I have a little electric lantern from them that I love. Small, lightweight, very bright, and it was only like $5. I’ve also been wanting to pick up one of their knockoff benchmade knives, but unfortunately I won’t be near a Walmart for a while.
>>2828018I don’t think an in house Walmart brand needs to advertise anon. I m just expressing my genuine satisfaction. They are based out of Arkansas, whoever their corporate buyer is knows their shit about camping.
I love flexing on normies on day trips with ultralight REI gear as I swagger past them on my 10 day overland hike decked out head to toe in OT gear
>>2828007 (OP)I like the fishing lures, the knives are 50/50 for me; some are decent but some are just trash. It's kind of a 'good enough' brand, if another more expensive brand makes their stuff in china then the Ozark Trail version will often be almost the same thing especially with backpacks, water bottles and things like that.
>>2828007 (OP)Their float tubes take a surprising amount of abuse
>>2828044So can your mum but I don't brag about that on /out/.
Ozark trail has some decent stuff for the price and they keep getting better
No one has mentioned their trekking poles. I always keep one on me when wading. You never know how steep or slick banks can be, if there is a tripping hazard below the surface, or if you are going to get stuck in mud.
>>2828192that's because trekking poles are for little bitches
>>2828192I don’t use trekking pols but not a bad idea for wading on steep banks when I go fishing.
>Ozark Trail
Reminds me of my childhood. One time in high school we went camping using a friends uncles tent. It was an Ozark Trail tent. What was creepy was in the tent bag we found:
>rope
>zipties
>screwdriver
>gloves
>small knife
>a beanie with holes in it for the mouth and eyes like a homemade ski mask
>a sock (gag?)
>“Ayy lmao bro I think your uncle is a serial killer”.
So we threw away the serial killer shit and set up camp. Day 1, totally normal. Day 2, we get drunk that evening then do mushrooms. Friend starts flipping the fuck out, clutching his chest and screaming that hes dying, and we HAVE TO GO NOW.
We took all of the garbage from the campsite, food wrappers, bottles, chips, eggshells, beer bottles etc, threw it in the tent, then rolled up the tent like a big trash burrito. What was incredible was the tent trash burrito perfectly filled up the tent storage bag, like a great big inflated brick.
Maybe 8 months later we heard that his uncle was pissed off about his tent being a fermented mold ball. Sorry unc, looks like you wont be doing any killing this season without a trip back to Wal Mart lmao.
>>2828009for $30 dollars a 3 person or 1 person tent is a great deal. got picrel, treated with waterproofing spray. so far so good. I wish they had different colors though
does anyone have any opinions on their CCF/inflatable sleeping pads? I don't think I need one (currently yogamatmaxxing) but I feel like it'd make sleep more comfortable.
>>2828007 (OP)The cast iron pan. I don't take it outdoors but it lives in my kitchen and cooks meat faithfully for about 8 years so far. The quality is quite bad compared to more expensive brands, and there's a void which fills with grease and when you heat it up, it comes bubbling out like a little worm. I had to use a random orbital sander to smooth out the cooking surface because it was so rough.
>>2828714Just buy an MSR if you really need a stove.
>>2828715I already bought the ozark trail one :3
plan on using it next week on a bikepacking trip
>>2828714For a full Wallmart kit it does the job. The canister stand is nice for any stove and the propane adapter gives you a secondary gas option. The burner has an electric sparker. For ten bucks its a great deal. Especially if you don't already have a stove.
>>2828716ignore this bozo
>>2828719my OT burner is great and does the job. keep a lighter with you if the piezo igniter breaks. have fun
>>2828007 (OP)i bought a 2 person tent around 15yrs ago, i just finally broke last summer. pretty good for $20
>>2829567Mine doesn't work at altitude.
>>2828192I’ve had one of their trekking poles for almost 5 years now and it’s great. Used it for my tent, tarp set up, hiking, poking random cryptids. I’m pretty rough with it and it has held up exceptionally well.
Really red pilled me on how overpriced most hiking gear is.
>>2830010Carbon fiber hiking poles are the ones that always make me laugh.
How shitty are their sleeping bags? The 15f bag is super cheap but I can’t believe it at that price.
