Hello, this is my first time on this board. I am moving soon and will travel around the city on a bike, preferably with my chihuahua as well if that's possible.

I have two concerns, firstly being how to buy groceries for a week on a bike. If anyone has experience doing that: do you have a huge backpack or something?

Also, for those with small dogs: how do you bike with them?

Recommendations for very good helmets is appreciated. I apologize if this is the wrong board but I am moving in 10 days so I just want to have plan I guess when it comes to traveling with my dog and grocery shopping.

Groceries for a week on bike will be tough even with a backpack. You will probably have to go multiple times.
As for the dog, there's bike dog baskets, like the one in your picture or other more closed ones.

I do that all the time with my bike, typically I get groceries for four days to a week.
I carry it with a 10 liter backpack (I think, I don't remember how much it carries but it does the job) and a bag attached to the rear luggage rack. I haven't needed a second bag. I have a basket I can strap to the rack as well but it's pretty sketchy. Only use it when I need to get laundry cleaning products, floor cleaner, that kind of stuff that comes in larger bottles.
Having bags to attach to my bicycle just unlocked a level of convenience in my life I just didn't suspect. I don't like driving and if I leave my spot close to my home there's no guarantee I'll find something nearby when I come back so I might lose ten minutes just trying to park, so I'd usually put off the big grocery run and instead do quick hops to grab small hauls. With the ability to carry more on my bike, everything just became a lot easier.
You can probably just use one backpack, I just like to separate "dry groceries" and "cold groceries" that will get "wet" because of condensations. Keep the dry bags of rice and the cold stuff separate.
Also, get a kickstand. It's handy when you're loading and unloading your bike.

I use a 80l hiking backpack + side bike bags, and a fruit crate on the back for big stuff like toilet paper when I go to the supermarket once a week, for 2 people I can carry a lot of shit, but I don't buy fresh stuff there so it's rarely fully loaded
when everything is full its quite heavy and physical to go back home, it's a 15/20 min ride

Is this thread more for /n/ ?
I was also thinking of carriage trailers for bikes.
I almost wonder if you could do something like heavy car trailers (better built) made for cars but put on a bike.

Anyways, most bike carriage trailers go up to 100 pounds.
Is getting heavy duty for 200 pounds too much?
>weight
It has wheels. The weight is only bad if you're going strait up big hills.

Big problem is going to be the weight.
You have trailers like this for bicycles, but the walls are often made of cloth rather than fiberglass. Some of them are designed to carry a child and you often see people using them to carry dogs too. See >>>/n/2033099
You have some bigger and more heavy-duty trailers with higher load capacity but these are mostly for e-bikes.
Weight is the main concern because as good as you can get, you are still limited in how much you can carry and tow. It's less of an issue with e-bikes and even less for motorbikes.

It very obviously is and it's even on the wrong board. It's amazing how many redditor newfags respond genuinely to this trash when if we had semi competent moderation it would be immediately deleted and op issued a 3 day vacation.
