Do you want light duty, medium duty, or heavy duty? Would you instead prefer sun gloves? How about wool mittens?

I grew up in Detroit and did a fair bit of exploring abandoned shit when I was in highschool and college. Belle Isle Zoo before the state took over management of Belle Isle was always very cool. I hear it’s not smart to go there anymore because of all the jackbooted statie thugs patrolling everywhere. No idea what the condition of the boardwalks and holding pens are now. Back in 2012 it was already crumbling. If I were to try to visit them again, I’d use the canals. There’s a route through the canals that wind through belle isle that runs right next to the fence of the zoo. It’d be pretty easy to paddle there and then slip in while avoiding the panoptic gaze of the state.

The Brewster Douglass projects were also fun to explore. They were once 4, 32 story abandoned apartment towers right across I96 from downtown. They were demolished in like 2014 but the rec center is still there (and tightly guarded) and had some spooky places like the locker rooms, pool, and basketball court. It was probably pretty nice back in the day and it’s sad most communities don’t really have stuff like that anymore. Some interesting famous people had connections to those projects. Diana Ross of the Supremes grew up in the nearby townhomes that were part of the Brewster projects, all members of the Temptations grew up in the towers, and Muhammad Ali trained at the boxing ring in the basement of the rec center. I can find my old photos and share some if there’s interest.

As for gloves, mechanix work gloves are goated.

So long as you don't mention the pakastani rape gangs you are ok.

Imagine seeing the day when the American first amendment is actually needed in the country that just 100 years ago ruled the world.

Please share more stories/locations from detroit.
I got a taste of urbexing a few months back when I went to the re-opening of the train station and noticed they left the stairwell door unlocked. I got to lay down on the edge of the roof and see all the lights and movement of the city in complete tranquility (save for the wind/crunching of snow) and I've yet to surpass that high
