In a few months im going to embark on an adventure when I get back to my home country.

Thing is, this will be my first ever camping/hiking/outdoors experience. What do i need? What should i learn? Any reading materials i should look at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

hammock + tarp > tent
especially for rainforest which is all fucked up uneven ground
you probably don't need even half of what you think you do (typically most peoples first outings they take an absurd amount of useless shit)
learn some basic survival/jungle first aid
learn how to make a basic filter for water (you will take some kind of filter anyway but learn how to make one as well and actually learn it before you go)
learn the different types of bleeds and how to treat them etc
learn basic topography and navigation
get appropriate vaccines like malaria or whatever is relavent
good footwear

>hammock + tarp > tent
This was actually my first choice in regards to shelter
>first aid, water filter, wound dressing, vaxx
So basically a dont die like a retard kit, got it.
>good footwear
Im deciding on whether i should go with light trail runners or jungle boots. Thoughts?

rainforest where? theres quite a few different types.
hammock is absolutely necessary. keeps you away from mud/water, thorns, crawlies, tree roots and uneven ground. get one with integrated mosquito netting. when swarmed by mosquitos, theres nothing better than being able to hide out in your hammock and reliably keep all of them out.
machete to cut a path.
high, watertight boots. can be simple rubberboots or something more fancy. especially important if theres venomous sneks.
waterproof headlamp with spare batteries.
waterproof bag for stuff you dont want to get wet.
long sleeve, fast drying shirts and pants. you might just need to dry out your clothes with body heat.
compass and good topo map. dont rely on your phone only. very easy to lose direction, especially in a flat landscape.
if you want fire, its often hard to impossible to find any wood thats dry. take some candles, cut a little piece and light it. stack small twigs on top of the flame. they will slowly dry out and light eventually.
waterfilter
fishing line & hooks

>What do I need?
An itinerary of where you’re going, when you’ll be back, and who to call in case of an emergency. Leave it with someone you can depend on.

This might sound like a long shot since im completely new to this kind of stuff but my goal is to go climb all the major mountains and trails within a year or 2. I have been thinking about this since the past year.
