Everyday carry
Been a while since we've had an EDC thread.
What are some things you always carry with you? Got any new gear recently? Knife? Flashlight? Tactical spork?

I've been wanting to put together a little edc first aid kit, not like my actual hiking first aid kit, just smaller things I might need on the day to day. But I havnt really settled on a pouch yet, or, if I should get a small plastic tupperware container because it's waterproof and I hear things like bandaids can get roughed up pretty easily in a pouch

Few items are missing in the pic as they're already packed in my car/bag. I'm picking up my girl this afternoon, and we will be out until Sunday.

In my opinion, a standard first aid kit (bandages, disinfectant, tweezers, scissors, meds, ...) is enough. Always have a solution for blisters and their prevention.

btw I miss the old /out/. People actually posted things instead of bitching. Latest generation here are just whining fags.

I always find these threads confusing if I'm choosing to feel generous and not simply regard is as instagram posts for, again, being generous, men. I don't have an "everyday carry". Sometimes my pockets are completely empty, phone and keys included, and sometimes I carry many more things with me. I don't carry the same things into the woods every time I go because that's not realistic or smart. I don't carry a first aid kit or a knife everywhere I go because I don't live my life pretending. And carrying stuff in your car shouldn't even be a part of this conversation in the first place. Do you "everyday carry" your spare tire and jack? If you smoke, do you "everyday carry" your cigarettes and lighter? It's asinine and pageantry at best. Nice pictures and all that though, I guess.

It seems like young people on the modern internet don't know what EDC threads have always been about.

Everyone has a wallet, keys, and a phone with them every day, but that's not what an EDC discussion is about. It's about the personalized items that people like to use based on their lifestyle, hobbies, and work, as well as a way to get new ideas. For example, someone here wanted to carry a can of sardines, but another person said it was a bad idea and suggested nutritional biscuits instead. You get it? It's not about the autistic "What's in your pocket?"
Anonymous No.2836916 [Report] >>2836918 >>2847068
>>2836860
I would say the easiest way for you to "get it" is carry a flashlight for a few weeks, see if you use it, many do.
of course if you are just a uni student, you just need your MacBook and water bottle.

do you hang out with people? like, after work, someone, or you, brought some beers, bottle opener.
someone gets a splinter? tweezers
someone needs something opened? knife

yes, the plain use of theese tools are out of the question, but, do you find yourself in situations where you use them and they make your life easier?
then some EDC stuff might be for you, sometimes its even a thing you never thought you needed but tried out for a few weeks.

hence, a thread about discussing it
>It's asinine and pageantry at best
at best it has actual uses, unlike jewelry and TV shows

>It's not about the autistic "What's in your pocket?"
Okay, but have you actually looked at this thread or previous threads? The one instance you pointed to - and it's an odd example because biscuits or sardines are not everyday carries, or definitely shouldn't be - is not the norm.
>>2836916
I do get it. The problem is that overpreparation is as much a problem as underpreparation. There may be a theoretical response suggesting a tool that has unexpected uses in contexts where others would be unlikely to consider it, but that's not what we see. We know knives are useful. We know the unexpected may produce the need for a tool we don't have on hand. Realistically though there is no need to carry tools for the unexpected. Want to open a bottle without a knife? Learn to use an edge. Want to remove a splinter? Find a sharp point. I can imagine a situation where someone has an interesting tool incorporated into their boots, or belt, or jewellery that can respond to a number of odd little requests when they happen not to have a useful tool in a context where most of the time it makes no sense to bring it except as a form of overpreparation for the unexpected. That's what I'm getting at.

Assuming you mean a day hike:
- backpack, for long trips where I travel light I use a flash 22
- water bottles and filter, I carry as little water as I can between spots to filter
- first aid incl bandages, ibuprofen and caffeine pills
- map and compass
- lightweight fleece and rain jacket, beanie
- trowel and bidet for pooping, it's light and worth the peace of mind
- head lamp
- if summer, sun screen and deet
- duct tape
- emergency bivvy
- sugary food for on the go and something for lunch. If I'm going a little heavier I'll bring a stove for tea too, my favorite thing to enjoy in the woods
- camera, I ditch this if I really have to go fast though
- phone, keys (with sak classic), wallet, garmin inreach
All of this is under 10lbs, I've done 20mi days and 6000ft elevation gain with it which is as much as I want to do in one day. Add a tent, pad and quilt to make it an overnight kit. Add a parka, gaiters, gloves and microspikes, snowshoes, maybe an ice axe and crampons, for snow.

Most of these threads seem to exist just to advertise junk products.
I have a smart phone, and I won't tell you what brand, a knock off Swiss army knife, a lighter. Who cares?

i had one of these and then sold it, the nail file sucks compared to their smaller knives and the box opener was less useful than just having a second blade

my favorite unnecessary tool is the magnifying glass, people like to say you could start a fire with it but in reality all people do is just look at stuff for fun

I dont think bragging about having no self respect, is as big of a flex as you think it is...
Sure, if you are that dirt fucking poor you cant afford a swiss army knife, you should peobably straighten out your priorities in life

Phone not shown since it took the pic. I also change up my knives a lot (I've got maybe 6 that I use frequently depending on what I'm up to) and sometimes add a flashlight, especially in winter when the days are short.

Can someone rec me a solid 18650 battery powered headlamp. Preferably something with a more warm colored bulb and with a redlight(like the non-disturbing to wild life kind)

What kind of retard carries a flashlight when you can just do the Motorola karate chop?

Splinters? Knife. Faggy bottled beer? Knife. Joggers? Shoot em dead and give em your knife.

If Jamal grabs your phone send some holla points his way and see if he reconsiders his position. If you're going somewhere without light (out), then bring a headlamp.
Carrying a flashlight everyday is dumb, I hope you accidentally wipe your ass with your flashlight shitting in the woods someday. Only flashlight I rock is for my heckin frisberinos
