Are kelp forests the next best thing if you ever want to visit an alien planet?

Probably a haven for predators, but yeah.
If your idea of an alien planet is one conceived by Ridley Scott, you're likely good to go. Don't quote me on that though- I'm sure it's very serene

yes! i happen to live smack dab in the middle of one. there are so many bizarre looking gellies and other invertabrates that i will randomly encounter when swimming around

Man I want to visit one. I once lived near a small lake with a patch of water knotweed in the middle and every time I went spearfishing it was magical, even if it was just a bunch of vines in a glorified pond. Can't imagine how majestic an actual big kelp forest is.
