>everything going good until first night
>starts raining hard, outside under a tarp so everybody is dry.
>gets dark so we go into tent.
>tent is fucking flooding.
>the rainfly isn't holding back any of the water and dam near everything is wet.
>still try to go to sleep but cant because cold water is dripping on my head for hours.
>doesnt stop raining.
>eventually its 2am and someone gets a flash flood warning on my phone.
>look outside tent
>fucking river of water outside.
>tell everyone we need to gtfo.
>hill we can drive up i think.
head to other side of campsite in my under soaking wet with gun in left hand and flashlight in the right.
>try to find others, they were already in there car ready to go.
>all drive up the hill in different cars
>head back down after an hour. its about 2am now.
>nothing is dry anymore.
>mfw when if i had checked the weather like I was asked before going camping this could have all been avoided.

I have a checklist for all my trips that has check the weather on it because I'm prone to forgetting these things. Flash floods are scary stuff, I'm glad I don't hike in places with them.

similar story, went camping with my ol lady earlier this month for our anniversary and everything that could go wrong happened

>wake up from really good sleep the first night
>look out of the tent window while waking up
>2 bears walking around on the camp site
>instantly wake up and start blowing into some whistle on my bug spray cuz it's all i had nearby
>they fuck off, a bit shaken up but also stoked because it was our first time ever seeing bears that close
>take typical bear precautions for the night, good night overall having some drinks and doodling/playing card games
>starts getting dark
>rain begins picking up, get a thunderstorm warning
>expected that beforehand it'll be okay
>girlfriend starts getting paranoid about bears coming around
>makes me paranoid but i keep periodically checking around the campsite for my own sanity and to put her at ease as well
>trees start falling over from the wind and rain
>similar thing happened once before at this place and a branch fell maybe 2 feet away from me
>think god damn we're in for it tonight
>check weather to see how long we have rain for
>all night + flash flood warning
>we finally pack it in and try to get some sleep
>she gets a full night
>i get maybe 3 hours because i'm up all night thinking what are we going to do if shit hits the fan
>campsite got flooded but everything turned out okay
