Bikerafting Hobo
Behold, I have the ultimate hobo meta.

Bikerafting.

>you are now master of the land and sea
>can travel anywhere
>nobody can stop you

The primary issue with being a hobo is being harassed by the law or other human beings that refuse to mind their own business, with the bike and raft combo you are highly likely to have a superior terrain and speed combo at all times.

You are now king. You can do whatever you please. You are free. Congrats.

>meta
Your environment dictates this. Not some idea in your head.
Iohan Gueorguiev himself did not carry a fucking boat from alaska to argentina but used one when he saw a good opportunity.
IMO bicycles mog. Period. Now if you're in a very swampy, boggy, sea-y or stream-y environment I can see how that is a good idea but only then, at best.
I am not in such an environment, if I encounter a stream I can cycle along it and will soon find a man made crossing. I need no boat.
I'd be very curious regarding the reliability of that boat and also how long it takes, you to deploy and pack. For the size it probably packs down to I rather bring another tarp or sleeping bag.

The raft is easily packed away in your rucksack. Big advantage. The bike folds.

As for environment, this is certainly viable for the entirety of the Americas from Patagonia to the North Pole.

Iohan is a giga-chad

If you're worried about carrying 10lbs I cannot have a conversation with you because we must be a different species

And specifically the raft option is designed for innawoods/hobo lifestyle

River/lake islands are top tier campsites anywhere in the world

Well considering that the OP is about being a hobo and not at all about cycling across the entire americas I was kind of confused by your post to begin with, sure

Fuckin weirdo

Bet you track your strava

All a carcuck knows is rules, you cannot even comprehend this thread

The main way that a person is regulated is by being within the "corridor"(like a game corridor) of regulators(the law)

With a mountain bike and a small raft you greatly minimize the amount of corridors that you traverse.

Ways to get fucked with by the law
>Be on a road
>Be in an easy to access place

You can now do whatever you want so long as "what you want" does not illicit dogs and helicopters.

Tell me about the raft. Is it usable to sleep on? When you're camping do you pack it away until you need it again? Or stash it with camo meeting. And what about the materials? Quality enough to be comfortable fishing from it?

anon what the fuck do you think

No I did definately mean this in the context of hobosim.
There is a limit to what you can pack. In my experience being on a bike helps alot with that. Hikers often express amazement with how much shit I got at camp.
Still: You are fundamentally limited. Everything you do pack displaces something else and everything you do pack has utility, enables you do do something. There is trade offs.
Now, what a pack raft allows me to do (assuming it works for years on end and doesnt fail catasteophically or irredeemably) is crossing bodies of water, while, I imagine, demanding I invest considerable time in it. Meanwhile I find most bodies of water in my wider area are easy to circumvent or cross on foot or bike and most often hardly mean much penalty in distance or time. So I gain what, hardly anything?
Meanwhile I loose: Bringing an additional quilt or sleeping bag for cold nights, more food or water or cooking gear.
TL; DR:
Of all the things I pack I dont know anything I would want to give up for a packraft and this becomes even more pronounced as a llanned teip becomes longer, in other words: approaches hoboism.
If I went out for only a week. Sure it might be fun to go rafting, catch aome fish, explore nice places.
If I had to pack for several climate zones and seasons and long unsupported distances there is no way a retarded boat makes it into my shit.

Dawg shut the fuck up. Hobos are out there working with 500lbs or nothing but the shirt on their back. You are thinking in very specific term even if you don't want to admit it.

You are not limited. I saw a 65+ year old hobo the other day in Aspen, guess what? Fucker practically had a wagon train and was traveling quite easily.

Stop trying to be an expert. You're a fag. People can do whatever they want. You have no idea what's viable.

Pardon? It's literally OP who claimed it was the 'meta' and it was literally my point that it - and most of the time nothing really - is the 'meta' you fucking cretin.
You're making my point which proves:

Yes the meta for being a hobo

Your point is that it doesn't fit in your bag and you can't carry an extra 10lbs

I don't understand why you felt the need to announce you were female but this thread is not for you

Thanks

I had two packrafts including the exact model in the picture. The problem with it is you need to carry a pump, repair kit, and oars which all take up loads of space on a bike. Not to mention you'll need to waterproof all your bags for when they inevitably get wet which will add more weight and complexity.

You'd be better off getting a semi-fat 29x3.0 bike that can go offroading without a problem

I've never been in a raft before. That's why I'm asking these questions.

>>2837376
The inflate bag packs down very small and light instead of the pump and decent UL paddles in four pieces are easy to pack, the repair kit is tiny, and using dry bags isnt any more complex than stuff sacks. Or you have a boat with a T-zip and you can put shit inside

I fish from my raft. You dont want to sleep on it. If I'm bringing my raft im either carrying in my pack or using it but the one time i wanted to stash it for a couple days while out on longer trip i just hit it out of the way under a rock. The materials im sure range in quality from bands and styles of rafts they make. That brand alpacka is good.

I am baffled by you anons seeming lack of awareness

The absolute best wilderness in America is hidden by water crossings

The tiny raft gives you a MASSIVE increase in land you can explore and inhabit
