Anything I should lookout for? Obviously i want a maintained roof and no prior leaks.
Im looking at 4-6000 campers right now and wondering if I might as well drop 8-12k
I already have an outdoor kitchen,
Maybe I will build a roof or porch for it.
Any advice or considerations on buying and also living in an older camper?

Its cheaper to build covered parking than buy a non leaking trailer.
You can also get a much larger trailer for the same price if youre willing to go the leaky route.

Any better idea for quick shelter?

I would like to frame up a shack and put a diesel heater in it . But it would be like 2-3k in material to have a decently build shack thats also not really sellable like a camper for when i move out

I found a 35 ft 1996 triple axel fifth wheel with two popouts for $1000. It was obviously resealed a few times. After a hard rain I found a small leak near a popout.

Sealed it up properly and its been dry. The inside was fucking disgusting as a family of 5 was living in it full time. I took a day and cleaned it all out,carpets, walls, ect.

Converted it all to LED. Thankfully, furnace works, Fridge works, everything works on it.

I plan to build a carport over the top of it. Its like my basecamp / hangout spot as I build my property.

My wife's parents bought a new one for 30k. They used it three times, it leaks, the furnace doesn't work, they broke a window, and it just sits in their shop taking up the entire place.

DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON A CAMPER.

I got a 13x20 metal shedkit off amazon for 1k, built it, then bought a 400$ closed fell foam spray kit from home depot. Threw in a heater and it was around 2k for the build.

I think what you need to do is set a hard limit of 3,000, that is it, the rest is savings. Make it happen on the cheap because youl learn a lot.

That shed kit sounds cool but godamn i hate metal and would build with wood. If it was my property I would timber frame or stick frame a cozy ass house..

Thats what i was originally thinking. My buddy even has a beater for $750 i could throw a diesel heater in and use my propane water heater for showers and dishes...but im about to pay 6 or 7000 for a 2010 tomorrow if it all works like they said.
I figure when I sell it I will break even or lose 1-2k after using it a few years

forget a camper, get a flatbed trailer. get a shed and convert it into a cabin or build a box on top of the flatbed yourself.

Will you be paying your friend rent or utilities? Let's just say you will be paying your friend a few hundred bucks a month to park that POS eyesore on his property and connect to his utilities.

That, combined with you spending $8k on a trailer, another few thousand fixing and maintaining it, and you are in rent territory with none of the benefit of an actual roof over your head.

Unless you have some reason to live in a trailer (drugs, most likely), you can rent a room in a house with roommates for $600 a month, depending on the city, everything included. I don't know anything about the used trailer market, but I don't imagine those pieces of junk hold their value very well. You must really value privacy to make that tradeoff.

A trailer house on the highway? That doesn't sound like a good idea, regardless of how it's built.

All i can say is make sure you have a way for proper ventilation and if possible create a positive pressure. Im surrounded by faggot cunt neighbors who burn wet wood and garbage year round and its been a nightmare keeping this thing properly insulated. I dont have time to do a full remodel of it so its had to do for now but fuck me man between that shit and the car exhaust make sure you are in a good spot away from stuff like that. Also these things act like giant tin cans and every low frequency sound for miles is going to travel through the ground and up through your camper. Put your camper near big trees and away from noise
