Back when I was in the army I had something alot like this I was given. Our company got little extras sometimes some of them were cool others were junk. And I got a pack about this size, probably heavier. I never really found a good use for it. The best use I found for it was when I used a camelback that fit just my water and a manpac radio. But it was still dumb because I could just use a better camelback that also had a belt strap, which I already had. The only real advantage of having a fanny pack in combat is upper butt support in the truck, since your back has 4 inches of armor on it.

I'm not against belt packs. i know they have uses and it seems like you just admitted that you are special and need a special item.
I still own and use fanny packs. That old army issue is gone but I still use an old army issue camelback hawg all the time. Internet gear queers are as old as time.

Man that's an oldie and a goodie. I remember everyone on lighfighter.net going crazy over those as well as the RAID Pack.
PS still got one of the first limited runs of light fighter RAID packs.

I don't know if it's the absolute biggest but I use the Hill People Gear M2016 buttpack and it's the exact same form. You also have to get their prairie belt for it to go on.

you think that is a significant amount of the cost of the item? if you gonna be this level of picky you should learn about the fabrics used so you aren't getting "ripped" off.

That is autistic and gay looking at the same time.
The innate hyperCONSOOMING nature of your culture leads to some truly monstrous and mystifying creations. News just in, the Americans put their capitalist heads together and invented a new type of manbag again, for some reason.

Of course you've got your designer flask tucked in there, that you researched at length before buying. I must consoom until the "bedder version" comes in from China, at which time I will "upgrade" my wadder boddle again.
Hahaha.

I have a 5l fanny pack that I use quite a bit. Very convenient when you just have a few small things to carry but it’s more than will fit in your pockets. I don’t know why anyone would want a bigger one than that though. At that point a small backpack is more comfortable and also looks less dorky

That's really not where you want weight, in the war we had Molle battle belts and put a large pouch behind for things like tarps, and two in front of the hips for kit.
I'd recommend a Molle belt because it will achieve what you want, but it's also useful for things like axe belts, jump kits, etc and you can get them surplus.

Pic relate.
It's got flat rigging because it's assumed you will have to wear it under a rucksack and a Vietnam style chest rig. That way you can just drop the rucksack and be ready to fight. And then you can also drop the battle belt rig wherever you have to set up a forward position and then you've just got your rig with the mags.
But same principle /out/, you drop your rucksack wherever you're camping, take the belt kit out to cut wood/brush/grass and carry a huge bundle back to camp on top of the belt rig similar to how you'd alice pack and that's when the shoulder straps come in clutch.

I was a milfag and belt webbing was the standard issue, chestrigs built around the armour plates were way cooler and better for urban environments but in general, belt webbing was WAY better for heavier loads and walking a long way. Our belt webbing had shoulder straps so the weight was not totally on your hips.
Having said this, the purpose of belt webbing was to have multiple pouches readily available for belt ammo or whatever. Hiking around the place you would be much better witha better pack/frame and having the weight properly distributed there is more important. You could get away with a small bumbag for snacks and maps or whatever.
