ive played harmonica my whole life as did both ofmy grandpas and love it to bits even to this day, but i will say that playing it outside is about as bad as blasting reggaeton at full volume on a boombox. the sound really carries. its a douche bag move to monopolize the soundwaves in a public place

Nothing worse than being at a campfire and some assqueef pulls out an instrument to make noises with. I hope you're alone when you do that.

Your instrument should always be within arms reach, even better if it can be worn as an accessory. I wear my wooden spoons on my shirt. They're used for discreet signaling, nonverbal communication, diversion, or disruption. I sound them when sneaking up on zoomers on trails.

Autism is when you dont understand the social indicators that other people in your group are giving that signal that they don't want to hurt your feelings by outright telling you that you're being annoying with your harmonica/guitar, but they do indeed want you to stop.

Tell them to stop if it's that annoying, don't run away to cry about it on your anonymous image board(like some kind of autist)
>implying I'm the autist
lmao
Anonymous No.2846846 [Report] >>2846847
>>2846840
I personally do tell annoying autists they're annoying because I appreciate it when me friends tell me I'm doing something annoying. But some people think they're being "kind" or "polite" by not telling the autist his tism is showing, which is why people like you don't realize you have the tism. I explain it like this: living with autism is like being born a skunk without a nose. Everyone you encounter in life thinks you stink like hell, but since you were born without a nose, you lack the ability to understand the concept of smell, so you're completely reliant on others to let you know you smell bad. But when everyone around you refuses to tell you to do something about the smell because they think they are being nice by not telling you, what they are actually doing is hindering your ability to connect with other people who don't want to be around a smelly skunk.

>>2846846
>>2846840
Tldr: I'm telling you this because I would personally want someone to tell me: no one wants to hear it, 99% of the people around you think it's annoying.

>playing a monophonic instrument alone
Anonymous No.2846919 [Report] >>2846944

I just wish most people weren't too retarded to learn an instrument and culture still existed. Nobody should be the only person with an instrument in a friend group.
Anonymous No.2846944 [Report] >>2846948
>>2846919
A study showed about 66% of adults have at least tried to learn an instrument and young adults around 71%. But 2 others shows only about 11-25% can actually play them and actively do. So it seems it's not from lack of trying but a skill issue.

No other choice.
This one was always advertised in Nintendo Power, I remember coveting it as a kid.
IRL Ocarinas have a sweet mellow sound and are very quiet, they're limited in range but would be a good instrument to bring out from an "annoying other people" perspective.

ocarina and harmonica are a nice combo actually, that was fairly common in alpen countries

you can get super nice ceramic ones from small time makers online for not much money. Especially from asia where they're not seen as just a meme. This guy's are considered some of the best and he has some down around $40:
imperialcityocarina.com

also keep in mind that smaller ones are dramatically louder and more consistent. Bigger and lower-pitched ones are quieter and more difficult to make well. I like the big ones because they're so different and mellow but they're harder to play and also not as useful for jamming. A bass ocarina gets drowned out by a guitar, meanwhile a high-key soprano could be heard over an orchestra
