Creating custom LUTs/ICC profiles Archived
I've figured out an extremely wonky pipeline of taking a digital photo, exporting it as a linear tiff to a python program that emulates a developed negative of Kodak 250D, and then using Negative Lab Pro to invert it.

It works perfectly but it takes forever, so I want to shoot a color test chart, do the whole process and then build a LUT or profile from the color chart that skips all of the intermediate steps so it can be done in one click in lightroom or whatever program. How can this be done?

that seems like alot of work for no gain im sure you can find some filter to make your pictures shitty much easier
Dehancer lightroom plugin is pretty good. Easy to pirate as well, just have to look around a bit. I like it since I don't have to alter my workflow much, import to lightroom after cull and just 'edit in > dehancer' the ones I want to fuck with

I may post the results later, but if you want to take a look at the program, it’s called agx_emulsion on GitHub. It’s a bit wonky to install and it takes like 90 seconds to compute a full resolution image. It’s neat but it takes a ludicrous amount of time, the parameters are confusing and...

Yeah I should have said, the Angenioux does it but it's a cine lens, used on a movie camera, and shot through a widened gate so it's not being cropped off by a standard gate. You'd get nothing like that if you went long exposure in a still. But if you wanted to create the effect, sure you ...

Demotivational Subhumans on /p/ Archived
Whenever I try to suggest that there is also a world of photography that is outside of social media and how working photographers even now use social media as a promotion of their work which exists in the print space of galleries, exhibitions, awards, grants, photography festivals, photobooks, commission portraits, assignments, print sales, museum archives etc. Then there are some absolute demotivational SUBHUMANS come out from their holes and start whining about jews or nepotism or whatever the fuck. These motherfuckers are on a mission to demotivate everyone to not at least try, to not take photography seriously, to not make connections in the real world, to not meaningfully engage with the world around them, to stop them from at least trying to get into the photo industry and shooting your shot at making a career, to stop them from desiring to reach a bigger audience, to stop them from viewing their work as something important, meaning and immortal...

These subhumans never want any anon to have a career. They want them to stay powerless, without any connections as some defeated and failed photographers which nobody know about. They keep preaching this disgusting defeatist bullshit.

To any newfags reading. Fear not the defeatist filth of these vermin. Life is hard but it's worth the try. Go grab life by the fucking balls. We're gonna make it.

Hey /p/,

1. I’ve got a Fuji X-T5 and want to upgrade to full-frame but keep size and weight close or lighter. Need no downgrade in IQ.

Any thoughts on Sony A7C II vs Canon R8 for that? Or hidden gems I’m missing?

R8 lacks IBIS. Can that be fully compensated with stabilized lenses or handheld techniques?

2. Thoughts? Other recs? What’s /p/’s preffered mirrorless Camera? APS-C? Is MF really /p/’s go-to choice for upgrades now, or just flexing?

3. Ricoh?

There really is something about using 35mm film, especially black and white, that cannot be replicated digitally. It is just a more honest medium of expression in this era of AI. I do believe film will outlive digital photography and digital will simply be replaced by AI. No wonder my Contax G1 is worth triple what I paid for it two years ago now.

Anyone else shooting more and more film this year? My Fuji X-Pro 2 is just gathering dust.

Why would you care about fucking ISO? Shutter and aperture are far more important, ISO comes last, so it's best to let the camera adjust.
Manual shutter and aperture + auto ISO is real photography.

Tripod thread Archived
Hello /p/ I am a casual to this board and photography, but I am /trv/ and I am looking for an extremely compact chest height tripod which has the video pan feature like in picrel (unless you can convince me otherwise)
the most important things to me are
>affordability
>compact (dimensions wise, ideal for carry-on backpacks) this is critical
>weight doesn't really matter as I always weight under whenever I fly abroad
>Ideally I don't want to spend more then 150-200 euro.
I am a casual and this is a lot of money for something I will use once in a blue moon
I have a Fuji xt-30ii with kit lens, I just want a tripod for nature shots, long exposure shots, group photos, time lapses etc (I would like the video lever for panning shots etc if I am filming but this is not critical) since looking into tripods I really did not expect them to get this expensive desu. Any advice would be great.

Benro are also okay, they’re essentially gitzo clones, the one I have for my 4x5 is decently solid and chunky

Sirui is a decent choice for not spending a lot of money. Anything less is really just asking for an annoying pain in the ass. Otherwise a used manfrotto seems to be the general consensus on /p/.
>>4454192 (OP)
All of the really small and light tripods are absurdly overpriced for being 3 tubes hinged together so i scored a used sirui t series tripod on ebay for $15 and just deal with it
Get an expensive one or get none.

it doens't matter what kind of lens it is, what matters is the sensor. If you put a full frame 50mm f1.8 on an apsc camera body with a 1.5x crop factor, it's gonna function like a 75mm f2.7. Likewise an apsc designed 33mm f1.4 will function like a 49.5 f2.1. Both focal length and depth of ...
I thought I understood this but I am just confused now seeing videos.
If it's a crop sensor, and the lens is for a crop sensor, is the depth of field accurate, or is its still multiplied by crop factor? I thought it was only multiplied if it was a full size lense on a crop body, like a EF on a EFS.

They're not bad, they're boring. Sometimes we think everything we do is worth seeing and forget that we only really take 5 or 10 good photos a year. Think of any of the great photographers; they took hundreds of photographs just to put together a 40-photo book.

I think the photo should always be displayed with the film of the same events, so you can (if you don’t already) how photography can be a powerful narrative shaping tool. You get an entirely different impression of what happened from the still vs the film.
