hey /p/rotogs, how do you think this photo was taken?

it dates from 2010, but based on the debris and vignette it was shot on film - so I'm thinking a monopod is more likely than a drone

I also just think this is a really cool image and captures the vibe perfectly

Tips for street photography confidence Archived
I have been passionate about street photography for many years, but I’ve always been a bit shy.
Now I’ve been working on being more approachable as I’m taking photos, and this is what I’ve been working on so far:

1: I have been working on smiling with both my eyes and my mouth. I don’t have a mirror at home, and it’s been hard practicing in public bathrooms, but I have made some serious progress so far.

2: I have started using a hat. It’s more stylish and I think the women will find it stylish as well. I have severe acne on my scalp, and I find it that wool stops it from oozing through.

3: I am working on losing weight. I have lost 2.7kg the past 8 months. It’s a slow grind but I’m on a steady course.

4: I have been practicing conversations. Mostly with my grandmother. She can’t respond, but I can see it in her eyes that she is captivated when I speak.

5: I have been thinking about getting a strap system so I can bring with me more lenses, and I think it would look more professional if I have them on display and not just in a backpack.

That’s pretty much it. I don’t have much money and I’m working with what I have.

What more should I focus on? Do any of you have and tips?

Morality of Street Photography? Archived
What's up with this new generation of photographers shitting on street photography and showing major concerns over "invasion of space" and other types of "ethical concerns"? What will happen to the major achievements of 20th century photography if no one is claiming it? Is this also a sign of woke times? Now ethics matter more than art or truth? Isn't it a given that an artist needs to have giant balls if he want to make good work? How street photography is different from realism in art? Is the description of someone by writer is more "unethical" than the photograph of some person? Why are zoomers afraid of reality?

Wasn't Tichy darling of /p/? What happened?

How should we deal with these question?

Hi /p/.

I was attending anime con two weeks ago and I would like to dump some (primarily) stage photos and ask for suggestions on improvement. Somewhere around year ago I made similar thread and got many valuable suggestions so I figured out I could ask again. Despite trying to apply more of your advices, I feel like I did rather mediocre this year, compared to previous one, however. But I would like to hear your opinion too.

I remember that photo dump threads are generally welcome here but if not, just say so. Thanks in advance for any advice. If you want, I could upload RAW files for selected photos on temporary link like catbox or something.

SCREENLESS – The Unseen Horror of the Dark Blue Screen Archived
I didn't think much of it at first. My screen just turned dark blue, and for a moment, I thought it was just a glitch. But then it lingered. It didn't go away, no matter what I did. I restarted the device, checked the cables, but nothing worked. The screen stayed this eerie shade of deep blue, like it was trying to tell me something. I took this photo without editing it. It's exactly how it looked at the time.

I didn't think anything of it, until strange things started happening. My devices—phones, computers—began acting odd. Apps crashing. Pages flickering. And that same dark blue screen appeared again. This time, it was different. It felt… alive. Like something was on the other side, waiting to come through.

Have you ever seen this happen? Or is it something far worse?

I have witnessed trails starting small; as you would see coming from the plane, and slowly grow and grow. They don’t disappear; just getting wider and wider until it all blends into one big hazy sky.
I’m going to assume wide angle is the best lens.
As for location is the top of mountain going to be my best bet?

What lightning set up and editing achieved this look? I’m somewhat new to photography. I got a great camera canon R5ii and the 35mm 1.8 lens. I’d like to learn from you guys how I could tweak my photos in studio to resemble this. Photoshop? Dodge and burn?

Is photography art ? Archived
Have you ever gotten a strong emotional response after viewing a specific phot, like you would in a movie ? Or maybe going to an exhibition or reading a book ? Or is photography just "pretty cool" at best ?
Pic related is the first response I got when searching " best art photography ever" online. While it's really good and impressive, I can't really say it makes me feel anything in my gut.

Post pics that make you feel something, inspiring photographers/books etc.

Yes, it's art. I'm not a photographer, I'm a drawing artist, but I come here for inspiration.

Anybody can take a picture, just like anybody can doodle. The hard part is perfecting your craft and having a compelling/unique vision that makes you a recognizable artist.
Found this cool picture by Cartier-Bresson of an american soldier returning to his mom. This one does it for me and I think it would be a good conclusion to this thread, hopefully

It's a 7.4V battery, two elements in series which have to be matched to avoid things going pop. Sure, Chinks can put some higher rated elements in a case and label it even higher, but myself I have had such battery to swell until the case burst open. Fortunately not inside camera.
Why the hell can't I find LP-E10 batteries higher than 1800mah capacity. You could easily cram 4000 in that thing.

GoPro just came out with yet another expanded camera lineup. They just can’t figure it out. Gangly clunky design, big wide bodies, lens always off to one side so in-water usage wobbles, no good way to mount it safely to a helmet so it doesn’t break your neck when you crash, of but you know what everyone will want, a Session 6 finally after a decade of waiting since the Session 5? NOPE, another dumb 360deg fisheye camera, but this time in 8k for when you really gotta have even bigger distorted nauseating footage. Plus another clunky blogging camera. Yay! It’s like camera companies bitch about the camera market sucking balls but then flood it with unattractive products and go back to wringing hands & moaning. First company to beat the 2015 Session 5 wins. FFS DJI & even Polaroid had a start at it, but then shit the bed.
