The best camera is the one you have on hand.
I have a "real" camera. It was expensive. I never use it because it's too inconvenient. Waste of money.
Think about it like this: you go out to conventions or amusement parks to have fun. You don't want to have to worry about lugging a huge DSLR or point-and-shoot that takes 10 seconds each time to setup and put away. Compared to a smartphone that is literally instantaneous.
Not to mention the latest flagship smartphone quality nowadays is literally 95% as good as DSLR.

DSLR takes better pictures, but the latest flagship smartphone is almost comparable and infinitely available.
I'll take the picture as you worry about setting up and/or finding where you put your DSLR or whatever and miss the moment.
