this was the hardest thing I've ever done mentally, since all I've done is work and fold cranes for two weeks. During the folding I listened to Dune and a bunch of podcasts. I can't share this with anyone IRL because they would think I'm insane because I am, good luck on your respective journeys to 1,000. I think if one of us was exceptionally neurodivergent they could get it done in 5 days, folding 200 a day for roughly 12 hours a day, not including stringing.

seriously though good luck, may your wish come true

I did it once on a personal challenge. A thousand cranes is feasible in five days.
Let's see: Can you fold 20 cranes in an hour? If you do, a ten hour binge can produce 200. By friday, you got a thousand cranes.

Put a good podcast or watch videos on your portable while doing it. Be sure your elbows rest on the table: it cuts your risks of tendinitis.

I don't have a definite "finish by" date, but I don't want to take forever. Probably not going to tell anybody else about this either, so sharing updates here is going to be the only thing I do.

Hopefully by end of year, yeah. I had to take a little break, but we are back at it again. Just finished 100, and since I usually sit down and do 10 at a time, 20 if I'm in the zone, so I'm still on pace. 99 days until new years, so I still have some wiggle room.
Also, I underestimated how much space these take up. I'd like to make something nicer to hang them on once I'm finished, but for now the only thing I can think of bar keeping them in a box is to hang them on my blinds. Or I go the full catharsis route and burn them all once I'm finished. Feels like it'd be kinda fitting. Honestly, I haven't decided what I want to do at the end.

The blinds that I was hanging them from were actually really weak, so I'm now awkwardly hanging the strings from a coat hanger in my closet. Not the most attractive setup, so probably no more pictures of the strands until I'm done. Gonna have to pick up the pace to finish by 2024, though. Last month has been very busy for me, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up in the upcoming weekends. Only have to do 75 a week, which should definitely still be doable.

Slowly but surely we are getting there. Still hoping to make it by the end of the year, and with a bunch of time off work coming up, I think I'll be able to get it done. Definitely getting better/faster at folding these, but stringing them up is still the worst part. I usually get almost a whole string folded before I sew them together out of laziness

I'm going to be honest, finishing this in 2023 is probably not going to happen, but that was never really a real goal for me, it was just a convenient target. They are starting to take shape though, and it's nice to know that I am over the hill so to speak. I still hate stringing them, though. Easily the worst part of the whole experience so far
