The history of the Southeastern United States in general is extremely dense and fascinating and yet so underappreciated in my opinion. We learn very little about it in New York public schools. I could see some truth in what you're saying though. I should've reiterated that we specifically did the Five Civilized Tribes dirty. Some other tribes were openly hostile to our people and thus we had to quell them. The Five Civilized Tribes were assimilating into American society and gave concession after concession to us. The Trail of Tears was perhaps unnecessary. It happened, and extended American slavery, which would end up in turn having a negative affect on our country today.

There are some Eastern Bands of the Five Tribes in the Southeastern US today (Seminole, Cherokee, and Choctaw all have Eastern Band tribes and reservations, for example). But most of their people were relocated to modern day Oklahoma. Even once they were in Oklahoma they were run over by European settlement. I have mixed feelings.
