The Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Volynets, sent an appeal to the Chair of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, Nina Ostanina. Volynets suggested considering the femboy movement as a destructive subculture that contributes to the destruction of spiritual and moral values. She noted that many participants in this fashion trend have a non-traditional orientation.
In a document available to Life.ru, the ombudsman stated that this trend, in which young men under 25 express femininity in behavior and clothing, can blur traditional gender roles.
According to Volynets, femboy culture is closely linked to the LGBT* community, which creates a legal and social context for its perception as a possible threat to traditional family values. She expressed particular concern about the active promotion of this phenomenon on social networks, where it can be perceived by teenagers as a modern trend.
