That isn't the plan. The plan is to bomb and drone strike the country into such a state of ruin that the government falls. No army can feasibly occupy Iran. Honestly not that many. Look at the protests that happened a few years ago. Iran has an extremely young population (more than 50% of Iranians are under 30) and the vast majority of Iranians do not support the Islamic regime. They want to live like normies in the west and be able to have women wear their hair how they want and listen to rock music. No doubt even a lot of people in the Iranian armed forces feel this way.

I don't think it'll work either, but that is all the US is in a position to do. It can help Israel bomb Iran, it can hope that's enough to collapse the government, but that's all it can do. The US is not prepared, on a logistical level, to invade Iran. Even the Houthis were enough to get the US to pull carrier battle groups out of the Gulf because the Navy is terrified of losing a ship.

The whole Pentagon is doing its pivot to China and a war with Iran that requires the Army is going to completely fuck up those plans.
