If you were to rent an average apartment in america for $1600

Just in rent that's $20,000 a year going to a black hole void.

$20,000 A YEAR!

You can spend $50,000 and get a used big RV with shower thats insulated and already has a hookup to a 120V electric system, 40 acres of land, a trailer, 5KW solar system, water totes and it will be payed off in 2.5 years

I bought my RV for $3000 and renovated it for another $1000, put new floors in it with thick 2 inch plywood. It has a full shower.

Nobody said you had to buy an overpriced RV. I pay $0 in rent a month, and 0$ in electricity.

Oh and even if it was 70K for a used airstream, 10-20 acres of land, you would make the money back on rent in 2-3 years because apartments in the US are so fucking expensive

Apartments in america cost 20-30k a year and you dont get anything back for it.

Its easy to live offgrid. It only costs $30-40K in america and you can be completely free from utility companies.

An average house in america costs $200k on average and you have to live in a goycity with a boomer city council raising your property tax and rent.

Grocery store duh. Not too far only 15 miles and you go maybe once per couple days, at the maximum length once per week.

As for water if you're offgrid you'll need a truck and trailer to haul it once every 3-4 months, or you'll need to build a water catching system and buy a 1500 gallon water tank. I use around 3-4 gallons a day with my A/C and my shower.

It do be like that
I sold my very mediocre house in the suburbs outside a city for major bucks a few years ago and put three hundred thousand in my pocket, I then bought a big ol chunk of property in the sticks with a trailer in it and spent about 10k fixing it up, doing the work myself, it's now comfy, a tornader may come and fuck it up but hey, that's life, I'll get another trailer or build a proper home if it's not jewtardedly expensive

I'm in the south, tornadoes aren't very prevalent but still happen in spring and fall, I actually had a little one hit my property last spring a year ago and snapped a few of my trees. I want a shelter though, tornadoes scare the piss out of me and I grew up in south Florida where hurricanes are notmal, I've gotten into my truck a couple times because I figure it can handle getting wrecked better than my trailer home can. I have a decent hill on my property that's pretty close to the home, I want to dig into that and make a little shelter.

I live in the middle of Bum Fuck Nowhere Indiana, and my rent is $1450. Apartments in NYC are upwards of $3-4k. Literally the only people paying $600 a month are on welfare and getting breaks on their rent already. Where the fuck did you get your info? It's not correct anywhere in the US. $1600 is a normal amount to pay for rent.

This, some of these are even worse than HOAs.
They can mandate grid hookups and septic systems even on the county level.
Most of the time it's people living in the desert in an unincorporated area so they can escape from everything and everyone else.

You buy land in an unincorporated township that is so small that they don't have a town council or building inspector. Such townships are common in the Midwest.

A guy I know recently moved from a unincorporated township to an incorporated one with a local building inspector and he hates that he now has to have everything that he builds inspected all of a sudden. But his wife wanted to be closer to town so thats the way she goes Ricky.

Are you fucking high? Anywhere that isnโ€™t the literal middle of nowhere averages $1700 rent. LA, NYC, DC are easily double that, and everywhere around it for at least 1 hour commute distance.

By the way Iโ€™m not exaggerating when I say the middle of nowhere. Thatโ€™s not hyperbole. In order to get $600/month rent you gotta live like in the middle of Kansas in a dying town that has a population of 300 and is at least 200 miles from the nearest city.

>What do you use as WC and for bathing and doing the laundry?
don't know what that means but I have a 1500 gallon tank, so around 5600 liters of water that gets filled with rain water.
>Are the bathroom and laundry room inside your house or outside?
Its a plastic tote with water and detergent powder and then a clothesline outside to dry in the wind once wringed. I have storage for clothes in my RV though.
>Where do you get the water from?
Rain water, it rains around 11 inches a year so I have a rain catching system that supplies me with adequate rain water. I'm one guy though.
>How do you take all that stuff with you if you decide to move to another place?
You just do it efficiently and with money. Biggest challenge was setting up a solar system and paying someone to transport the RV. The cost around 45K USD for 40 acres, RV, 6KW solar system, used truck, trailer.
>How do you endure hot summers?
Just use a swamp cooler. Around 400W a day and uses 2-3 gallons on auto. Gives you 65 degree cold air into my living space, I leave the windows open.

>I like the idea of living in a trailer or van, but I've always considered these the biggest issues.

Without solar or A/C like an evap cooler you're right, It would be pretty much unlivable.

Nah you can reasonably setup a 15-20 acre offgrid property with a trailer, water tank, shower, outhouse, full size fridge freezer, used truck for $50k or less.

50k would only be 2 years of rent in any normal american city and it goes into the void of nothing.

There are $600 apartments available in the US you are correct. Even in white states and areas that are low crime like in the midwest there are apartments for as low as $600-800 in small towns. lowest I've payed is $550 when I lived in the midwest Though you have to live in the midwest with all the sub zero temps.

Small midwest towns are notorious for jacking up the price of everything else since its all boomers on social security who don't actually have to go work for their food so they don't mind if bread is $4 a loaf and milk is $4.50 a gallon because they get $1200 a month and their house is payed off.

To me though I went offgrid and I'll explain my reasoning why. Any rent is stealing. In my political view I don't want to pay a single cent towards rent because its going to someone else who is profiting off the labor of workers. I just dont agree with people's money going to an imaginary void. A service sure, but an overpriced one.

That said renting will always be worse than being a NEET or buying your own property. Even if you spend $80k on an offgrid property with a huge 15KW solar system, a tiny house thats maybe 500sqft. It would still pay itself off in 5 years because renting is that expensive.

You can find an RV for less than 10K USD.
Also its only $1500-$2000 to pay someone to tow it across the country.

Airstreams are expensive but the fact of the matter is.

Renting is a scam that literally steals massive amounts of your money and labor from you.
Houses are way overpriced and in a bubble.

The only good option is RV living offgrid on your own property. Or if you are so inclined, build your own house.

RV is fine if you setup for permanent residence like solar, water tank, fridge. It's quite comfortable and there's no poverty compared to renters in the city paying thousands. No money on rent means all that money goes to food and other stuff or less work like 10-15 hours a month only.

Van life is a fake lifestyle though.

No well needed in many counties.
95% of people where I live haul water or catch it in 1000 gallon+ tanks.

Also no utilities where I live It's completely offgrid.

You do need a compost permit though which is just building an outhouse which is not hard to get. There are many misconceptions about offgrid living in america. It's not as hard as people make it out to be, and not as expensive.

It does cost money, 30k but most people can afford rent so they can afford this.

Most airstreams are good quality. Its what all the boomers buy who go live in the southwest buy. The trope of retired boomers living in the southwest in their shiny airstreams is very common.

Most boomers are city cucks so they live in RV parks anyways with sewer and utility hookups because using an outhouse and then a bidet is too hard for them and they want to be 1 mile from the grocery store. Its cheaper than a house technically in some places because of taxes.

But then you're back at square one, being rent jewed from someone else stealing your money because you're too lazy to buy land in full with cash, plop an RV down on it and setup solar, water collection and an outhouse.

>Be in my 30s
>Was basically a fuck-up, college dropout, and struggled with a lot of shit after that so instead of finding and keeping a long-term career job, I just bounced around hourly work and don't have anything to show for it.
>My parents want to leave our home state/town, and retire to Florida. They know I'm not doing well, so they ask me to come with.
>Feel like shit about it at first, but shortly after my dad's health takes a nosedive, he can't walk anymore and needs constant help.
>Now I can't afford to get him care, so I have to be on-call all the time to help him and my mom do things, meaning holding a job is difficult.
>But on the plus side they've already said they're going to give me the house they live in which is paid for already.

Honestly, I was probably going to just go live in a trailer park or get some sort of conversion van/RV or something because that's about all I could afford. But then again, with house prices being astronomical and so many people turning to vans/RVs, those are skyrocketing in price too so honestly maybe even one of those would cost too much.

Can you imagine being such a bitch that you don't fight fire with fire? Oh you think that's loud, heh kid you are about to get fucking obliterated. Hook up multi microphone setup and insane surround sound with sub woofers to really show them what loud masterbation sounds like.
