In reality each engine generate power independently so for that to happen both engines has to be shut off somehow with no backup power... the survivor did say there was some weird electrical problems just before the crash like lights flickering but maybe that is related to engine failure

The RAT didn't drop and both engines didn't fail. If an engine failed, you would have seen a massive cloud of smoke (aerated, unburned fuel).
