>Russia and China competing for a large share of arms exports to non-western aligned thirde countries
>Russia psyoped themselves and the world into actually thinking that they were an actual military superpower and the 2nd most powerful military on earth, stronger than China
>A lot of countries actually decided to buy Russia hardware and equipment over Chinese, despite Chinese hardware being both better and cheaper, purely because "RUSSIA STONK" and the enduring soviet legacy
>Russian arm sales were a lot higher than China before 2022
>2022 happens, Russian hardware is revealed to be a paper tiger, and now Russia can't supply more weapons, or even maintain or upgrade their customer's existing stock
>Alot of thirdie nations are now stuck with shitty Russian equipment
>To add insult to injury, Chinese hardware is usually cheaper than Russian hardware

How the hell did Russia convince the world that they were stronger than China and that their equipment was better before 2022? Even during their actual superpower soviet days, electronics and software was always their weak point that they made up for with good mechanical engineering. And from the 90s onward, people should have known that electronics, software and electronic warfare was going to be the future of warfare.
So instead of going for the largest electronic hub in the world and the 2nd most advanced software ecosystem in the world, dozens of nations choose Russia, who can't code their way out of a paper bag. I think most nations are regretting this already, with the recent global tensions and the chances of hot wars actually happening.

Hell even Russia suffered from this. In 2022, they only used their shitty domestic drones during the start of the initial invasion. Who knows how much better the initial push could have went if they had bought a shit ton of chinese drones and other chinese weapon systems to make up for their existing weakness in SEAD and electronic warfare before the sanctions put a stop to it.

Nah, it's true. At the start of the 2022 invasion, Russian troops were flying around with literally taped together Russian drones while Ukraine was flying DJI drones. Before 2022, Russia had never bought a single chinese weapon system or hardware, not a single one. Not even for reverse engineering. And after the war started, they are buying NK artillery and Iranian drones.

If Russia had bought some select chinese hardware meant to plug up the areas that Russia was weak in, like drone warfare, electronic warfare and SEAD, who knows how well the initial push towards Kiev could have gone?

Russian hardware is fine the reason it sucks is corruption when you have leaders selling off gas and extra equipment to they highest bidder and then they are suddenly called up and everything that is supposed to be their on paper is magically gone is what is fucking them. The actual equipment itself is fairly sound.

Russia has some good areas and some bad areas, just like any other military. If they were smart, they would be buying foreign equipment to shore up the areas where they are bad in, especially before a war. And for reverse engineering. That's basically what China does, even as recently as 2019, they were still buying lots of Russian equipment because there's some areas where they're still not as good yet. Hell, that's what all nation does. If your tanks are good, but your navy sucks, and there might be a major war soon, you might have to buy a few top of the line frigates to tide you over until you can fix the issues in your domestic warfare. Even America is doing that, licensing an European frigate instead of designing one from scratch, because America has little experince with frigates.

And things like electronic warfare and drones are areas where Russia sucked at but China was great in. But despite being allies and China being a industrial powerhouse who could have shipped whole lot of hardware into Russia for cheap, Russia still refused. They probably won't have conquered Ukraine, but who knows how well the initial invasion would have went if they had a few billion dollars worth of drones with them during the push towards Kiev or actual equipment needed to do proper SEAD
