They weren't conquerors and barely even fought against the Irish. The war 9 years War between England and Ireland ended with the treaty of Melifont and James of Scotland became king of England and brought Scots settlers to Ulster and English too. 30 years later the 11 years War broke out and the Irish Catholics of Ulster fought the settlers and then they joined forces against Cromwell and both sides got beat and half the settlers in Ulster were killed mostly by Cromwells forces. In the Williamite war there wasn't much fighting between the Irish and Ulster Scots except the siege of Derry and Enniskillen and Ulster Protestants made up only a small part of Williams army in the rest of the war with the Irish. The Ulster Scots were on the United Irish men side during the war too.

It's all bullshit. And most of the Ulster Scots population came after the Williamite war fleeing a famine in Scotland and that's why there is so many today on the East Side of Ulster.

Have you confused Sinn Féin with Nationalists because the Catholic population of Northern Ireland who want a United Ireland are called Nationalists even though Sinn féin is a Republican party and not Nationalist in the traditional meaning or are you seething at Southern Irish who are Nationalists in the traditional sense and what you'd come across here and at anti immigration protests?
