>>507243146>hard to translate wages from the US, every time I look at my salary in america its super low but on every metric im on par with the 6 figure americans I'm a low 6 fig American, how do you figure you're on par wage wise?
>Which I dont get because your food and housing seems really cheap, do you just have 1000 extra little costs to take down your salary? There are several income taxes (the number, as always depending, on state of residence/state tax reciprocity agreements) but fundamentally most average Americans pay around 12-18% to federal, 2-8% for state (some states like CA, NY, etc are upwards of 9-12%), and sometimes city taxes for places like NYC. Additionally, there is social security + Medicare of 7.65% for everyone. We have sales taxes that vary from 0% to 10%, I'd say 6-7% is most common. But we have no VAT taxes. Most Americans will invest 5-10% of their salary into 401ks depending on match benefits as well. Gas taxes are significantly lower in the USA too, a liter of petroleum costs around 70-75ยข. Lastly the thing I think that hits Americans the hardest is their personal choices, the big four are revolving credit card debt, buying way too expensive of cars, taking 5 star fancy vacations, and most importantly larger houses than they can reasonably afford. How does Sweden compare and maybe I can give insight to compare?
