How will the US federal government stop the majority Hispanic population of California from voting to secede? Could it start a war between the USA and Mexico? To what extent would Russia and China interfere?

The Germans had shipped us a boat load of mausers to use against the gringosys in the early 20th century. So a superpower helping us isn't out of the question. But yes, just based on game theory, a secession is likely to happen. Would it start a war with the US? Absolutely. With Mexico? I doubt it. They would likely stay out if it in an official capacity. Now, whether the US would demand access to Mexico for a direct southern assault, that's a different question. The US might demand Mexico join in the effort to suppress a state seeking it's right of self determination. And if didn't, the US might declare war on them. But I don't think so. US arrogance might they could win without expanding it. Something they'd be wrong about.

How are you going to keep the red counties from leaving? You have nothing to entice or coerce them to stay. California secessionists never answer this

They did a poll not that long ago and like 25% of Californians would vote to secede, and most responding/voting that way are probably just trying to make a point and not of the mind it would happen.

Please get real. No one is voting to secede. Not California, not Texas, not Vermont. The Civil War firmly established you're here forever in this union.

Jefferson counter-secedes and we go to war over their territories

Jefferson wins independence from California, California is forcibly reannexed.

California is rich because of America and all the American corporations on it. As soon as it secedes everything would go to shit because American companies like Google or Hollywood wouldn't remain operating on a foreign country. Remember a lot of these companies run on Government money and subsidies even if they pretend to be private. Cali also barely has any drinkable water of their own since half that place is basically a desert. California needs America to not become a shithole... Although is kind of already is because of 3rd worlders.

Was never really discussed. Lincoln instead decided to go the route of "might makes right" instead. Different generation, different interpretation. We shall see.
