If it was named "Clifford Steel" or "Bower Steel," literally no one would give even a single fuck. Having the name "U.S. Steel" didn't make it any more American, it was just a fucking brand.

Domestic steel production is one of the key indicators of economic development. You can't do anything without steel. The US is just letting the Japs run it and make some profits because the union retards who had control before drove it into the ground.
