There is no universal and standarized metric for classifying poverty in an objective matter
For example Argentina is one of the poorest countriest in latin America if you look at their poverty rate but if you judged every other country in the region using their standards they would be the richest
Another example is that India has a lower poverty rate than Estonia
This is the kind of statistic that lefties throw around because its unreliable and sometimes used as propaganda by the goverment, you never see them discusss inflation or GDP per capita

le this
I grew up in Brazil, in "rich" São Paulo, and it still looks like garbage compared to Buenos Aires. Argentines mog even the richest Brazilian states in terms of actual quality of life for most people, despite the minimal "poverty".

that's bullshit: the party in power is known for cooking the numbers

>After inventing the R$300 middle class, PT is about to officially declare the end of poverty, which, strictly speaking, no longer existed. See how and why

there are in fact standard metrics for poverty that are based on daily income and local prices, the world bank publishes an index for example
theyre not perfect because some countries provide more or better public services than others and that isnt reflected in income, but at least its better for comparing different countries than the usual government indexes

Im serious

Lula was very popular during his first term
nowadays, not even his own side likes him. common sense says he must be doing something wrong this time around and that those statistics are very likely rigged in some way
