>>507332744Anyway I traveled South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Namibia for 6 months.
Only problem I had was crossing a border late afternoon. They spend all day confiscating and drinking booze. Had to “pay for a visa” but had no cash so they confiscated my passport after a bit of gun waving and I had to go get some money.
Oh I pushed a bouncer at a nightclub and immediately had a handgun in my face.
Both sound worse than it was but to be fair I grew up in png and you’ll know what that’s like, comparative Africa was fine aside from those couple of things I knew better than to do.
Would go again.
Avoid Johannesburg or any slums. If you accidentally find yourself in a slum, don’t stop.
Pretty standard 3rd world shit.
You can get a gun easy as, but probably going to cause you more trouble than help.
If you go out drinking be prepared to drive home, there’s no taxis and I wouldn’t walk at night.
Towns like Harare can be war zones, but if you’re going to Vic Falls you’re fine to walk back to your hotel at night.
Just ask for local advice before you start travelling or going out.
