Timber frames that are not subject to water ingress last a very long time. They can move if the ground moves but it is easier to re-level a timber house or straighten walls than if you have a concrete/brick building that has moved. If the exterior is clad with timber weatherboards or shingles then yes they deteriorate in harsh weather but repainting every 15-20 years takes care of it. The real danger here at least is termites. They will fuck your timber house up BAD. Timber itself is an excellent material with many fine properties.

It doesn't rot unless it's inundated with water. For the most part your home is thoroughly waterproof so that isn't an issue, and there's enough structural redundancy that there's no single failure point.
If your house does have a leak, which can happen with weather damage or if some pest damages to get in and break something, then a timber can get wet but the wood is naturally water resistant and usually treated with something that helps prevent rot so as long as you notice the problem and fix it, there won't be any real damage.

The ancient Egyptians used to do something similar using mud brick mortared with nile mud, although built of a reed support form, and used for mastaba tombs.
In most cases the mud brick was only one or two layers thick, but had multiple meters of loose gravel loaded on top.
Many of these tombs lasted thousands of years intact, even surviving earthquakes.
With the bricks, the major issues might be choice of mortar, and water erosion of that mortar.
