Please help me quit weed. I've been high for 15 and want to stop. I didn't do any yesterday all day until it was 3 am and I realized im not gonna sleep if I dont pop an edible.


Insomnia is my only withdrawal, the mental shit is easy but I just cant ficking sleep. Last time I tried it was 4 night of not sleeping until I started losing my mind. Im already sleeping 4 hours a night cuz I keep getting woken up from weed withdrawls so I cant just tough it out as im already barley functioning.

The "physical" symptoms of withdrawal are very marginal, just restlessness and crankiness. Yes getting to sleep is a bit harder. I’m in a similar boat anon, I was high for the better part of 15 years. First off good job on coming to terms with how you need to quit. It’s made me a complacent loser my entire 20s. I’m on 2 weeks clean now, the insomnia is starting to go away and I can sleep now and my appetite has come back but the depression is starting to peak with I figure will last another week. I’m already thinking a lot clearer now and it takes up to 90 days for your brain chemistry to get back to normal but you’ll be so glad you went through the suffering to get clean. As for how to get though it, drink lots of water and exercise daily. Eat lots of good food and avoid junk if you can. The first 10 days you will have the highest cravings for it again but just remember the suffering you’ll have to go through if you reset. If you have any close friends or family you can talk to about it let them know where you’re at and have them keep tabs on your progress, if you feel like buying some and going back, call them and just talk to them it helps. You got this anon you’re stronger than you think when going through weed withdrawal. It’s an emotional rollercoaster but you’ll feel so much better on the other side. Hope that helps

Last time I quit cold turkey I was vaping a 1g full spectrum cart a week. Mixed with weed, at a rate of about a oz a month. I quit because I was moving out and wanted to air out the apartment before I'll left.

Basically nothing, kinda harder to get to sleep. Also you get super vivid dreams since weed tends to suppress that.

I've quit harder drugs. I know what real withdrawals are like. It's not comparable.

try 5-25% less each day, depending how fast you want to stop, but do not ever increase a dose. also space it out through the day in 2-3 doses so you can get used to not being high. will solve the physical stuff but more importantly need to address the source of hole (escapism) which was being filled by it. find a hobby/interest you can enjoy sober.

lots of supplements can help like 5 htp, gaba, im sure there are lots of others. stay away from kratom/alcohol or any other (legal/illegal) psychoactive replacement.

Cold turkey is the only way for me to quit drugs. Too much habit, too hard to taper. Just do it, like Nike.

A cheat is to scrap tiny bits of residue, that way you can take the edge off but you never have enough to get high, and you're not buying more which is a problem.

Yes, its going take a long time, but you need to slowly reduce your daily marijuana intake, and when its low enough you can go cold turkey.

I never had a high tolerance was consuming only a few grams a week, and I was able to stop cold turkey. You will have vivid dreams for MONTHS , some of them will scare you badly, but this is price you pay for shutting off REM sleep when you smoke everyday.

It took me 6 months before I felt fully normal, I went through months of depression during that time as my brain chemistry adjusted to the new reality of having almost no dopamine. You will feel good in the beginning full of energy and such, but this is just the beginning, soon that will all fade and you will feel a void that marijuana once filled.

Weed is easy to quit but realize you need to commit to this and see it through. Use Benadryl as a sleep aid.

Intense Cardio exercise is known to reduce marijuana withdrawal symptoms by about 50%.

This is the only known "cure", and it does help a lot, you will be tired from the exercise and much more likely to sleep. Not to mention it help flush your body of marijuana by burning fat cells that are holding on to THC.

It is addictive at the current percentages, but quitting requires a lot less will power than cigarettes my guy.

Literally just quit and deal with the sucky withdrawal and not being able to sleep. It is a minor annoyance if you really want to stop.

anyway, I was a junkie for 20 years and when I quit cold turkey I couldn't eat, was physically ill and couldn't sleep
if you have a job, take two weeks off
if you have relatives or friends, stay with them during these two weeks
throw out everything that even remotely has something to do with weed, when you come back to your place, you will already have enough memories and routines as triggers, the last thing you need is paraphenelia and certainly not actual weed or edibles etc
make it abundantly clear to your stoner friends that you're done with weed, that you dont need to explain it further but that they should accept it and stop offering you or pestering you
ALSO IF YOU FAIL its not the end of the world, but if you truly want to quit, quit again asap
stop being a bitch and tough it out or stay addicted for the rest of your life, its that shrimple

Im gonna be honest with you, I smoked an ounce a day for almost 5 years, when I quit I had heart palpitations, couldn't sleep, shaky, irritable. It lasted about 2 months, The insomnia lasted for about 2 weeks, Maximum 4 hours of sleep a night, first week I only slept 2 days out of the week, It went away though. So whats my advice? Quit being a pussy and realize you will fall asleep if you are truly exhausted, you're not gonna die from weed withdrawals so just fucking do it lol

it's not that hard. Usually it's just a few nights of weird sleeping. But every day your mind gets clearer and your brain starts going back to normal. I've quit 3 times before. The hardest part is deciding to actually do it. It's a seductive little whore. One of the problems is after quitting for a while if you ever do smoke again, it feels like the first time and the memories of the good times come back. You get super baked and start enjoying some of the stoner activities again. That's why it sucks you back in. But I always say, it's good to get away from it when you can.

Getting past the 2 week mark is the worst. You just gotta accept it’s gonna suck but the benefits are worth it. Set a goal you want to work towards that you never even bothered while smoking. But after the 2nd week it gets better. By week 4 you’re not even thinking about it daily, by week 6 you’re pretty much not thinking about it at all.

Start by gradually reducing your usage.
Don't get demoralized if you have a relapse, it will happen.
Reduce usage by say 1/3 / week.
Extra strength NyQuil is a good med that requires no prescription and has minimal side effects to help you sleep.
Create an urge chart and track that. See if there are certain stressors that cause you to use.
Everytime you use marijuana write down in total how much it cost you in money (including all the munchy food shit you are buying)
Avoid hanging around your using friends especially if they push it on you.
Replace use with a positive hobby, like lifting weights. When you get stressed lift weights vs smoke yourself silly.

yeah you'll sleep like shit for the first 3-4days, for my first 2 weeks I kept an empty burnt cart in the vape that if really had do could try and hit it (more as a placebo for habbit) but as you'd know it tasted like ass and would be more of a deterrent going forward. Also first week substituted booze when widthrawls felt awful and would help with sleep. But obviously you don't just use it to replace smoking or you're back in a similar boat. Will power as gay as it sounds goes a long way. The more time goes by the better you'll feel about your choice as well.

it'll take two weeks or something of sweating it out. just tough it out, its not that addictive comparatively, youre just 'used' to it. i do fall asleep with music, podcasts or cartoons since i quit, to keep the mind from thinking when it should be resting. it helps a lot to distract yourself. lotsa devices have a sleep mode timer, so make sure to have that to not wake up again

I quit over winter and had withdrawals / extreme cold constantly for months and months.

Then I did DMT once at a low dose and bam I'm okay.

Try quitting and taking psychedelics to get over the issues.

I also swam a lot and at high intensity and for long durations. Swimming helped with the bronchitis and other issues.

OP do you have a deviated septum like me? If you do get surgery for it because you'll never breath or sleep right while having a broken nose. I think for good advice you have to find advice from people who take the drug and have the same effects as you.

Like weed and shrooms and everything else does not effect me the same way it does many other people. Like on shrooms I can't stop moving, have insane adrenaline, super human strength and balance, do echolalia, etc.

But some people can take shrooms and sleep or be indoors and watch things. I can't. It end up flopping around like a fish on shrooms.

Weed effects some peoples dreams. For me it never did. It just amplified my senses, created higher levels of perception and body awareness.

I also am highly influenced by tiny amounts of any drug, don't have a higher tolerance some people have.

Go swimming dude. V02 max is best predictor of longevity. You need a strong heart, strong lungs, and also strong bones so make sure to do isometrics for bones (anything that involves holding tension for more than 15 seconds will strengthen joints/bones). I used swimming/biking/running to get over weed. Go do an iron man and also run 100 miles like David Goggins. See how "fit" you really are. The swimming in particular helps the most with bronchittis and other issues related to weed.

Threads like these always remind me of people who taste soap when they eat cilantro, I suspect that people are genetically predisposed to handle it or not - for myself, I instantly go back to who I was, but that person has never had tolerance for living in a world of mouth breathing retards, even more so today. I feel fine when I stop, even after 20 years of daily heavy use, and it's nice to take a break once in a while, but should I stop if it's cheap and provides benefits? I don't get any of the side effects, rather the hard part is returning to the man I was before I smoked, who has minimal tolerance for others, and who never persued creative endeavors. Of course I can choose to do these things, but few other things switch brainstates so quickly, and the shifting is why creativity benefits. (yes you can do it sober too, but most people can't just consciously choose to shift states) cannabis smokers where statistically one of the best survivor groups of covid due to being taught deep breathing by smoking and regularly expressing ACE-2 (smokers are most of the people who lived past 100 years, though more so with cigarettes but the benefit still stands as industrially produced cigarettes are obviously going to have wider implications)
furthermore, cannabis interrupts the effectiveness of mind control techniques, and thc works as a skeleton key compound to fill many receptors supplementing other compounds that facilitate normal body processes, which is why you get hippies who use it for everything.

I'm open to stopping but haven't seen a legitimate argument against it and a lot of the people who seem to dislike it are dysgenic goblin faced fucks who are going to have problems with their body whether they use it or not. If you're smart, use it knowingly, responsibly, and have no healthier alternatives, why not?? it's not like we don't all know most pharmaceutical alternatives carry similar or worse risks, so commonly that we can ask if it's by design.

Yes I am sure. I've done golden teachers, natalensis, melmec, b+, holo, and some others. Also I think meth doesn't effect me the same as other people either, it has zero appeal for me. Also every single drug meant for sleeping and every single herb doesn't help me sleep. Stuff like chamomile just gives me a headache and many sleep meds have me wide awake and ready to run a marathon. Also alcohol, even in very small quantities, makes me hear auditory hallucinations (a type of hallucination I normally never get otherwise).

Try a heroic dose of mushroom to rewire your brain from weed addiction. Also training physically at the gym (or simply weight lifting at home coupled with calisthenics) it helps a lot with sleep. Also don't give up Bro , it can take a couple tries , but things do get better after stopping

Well, that's the way the mind works and why you have to be careful what you give people you're hanging out with (as if anyone on 4chan does that).. I've seen people trip out over psychedelics... legitimately scared.. no matter how chill the environment is.. I saw a guy who never did meth before start hulking out and had to be restrained.. wasn't my place out friend, but I was there to see it.. for me, opiates/oids/downers/benzos do nothing.. I call it a blessing though, having watched many people go down what I would easily consider a much darker path what I've seen/where ive been than pschys/stims... something i can say "fuck it" and get from time to time just for old time sakes and never "relapse"

See a doctor. Tell your doctor about your intention to quit and about your withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will hook you up with stuff that should help with withdrawal related anxiety, insomnia and nausea. Benzos will not be on their menu. Immodium you can get OTC if you're experiencing diarrhea as a result of quitting. Nothing but time will help with the anhedonia. The first two weeks are the worst. The second week won't be as bad as the first.

the main issue is cortisol. if your brain got used to moderating cortisol with weed them your cortisol levels can be very high when you quit causing many symptoms. this can take months before a normal cortisol balance is reached. but it depends on your personal brain chemistry. i am also speakimg from experience

Unironically, book a 2 week resort somewhere in the Caribbean or Mexico. Ideally, Cuba. Somewhere where you 100% cannot get weed. You will have a lot of trouble sleeping for the first few days but it will go away.
Swim 1-3 hours a day. Take sun. On the other end, you'll be detoxxed from withdrawal.
You'll have the craving but at that point you're free from the physical and you can take it easy.
