that and you can get past the fact that glue (not intended to make submarines) is integral to the hulls resistance to the pressure.
the glue cyclically deforms, which will eventually and always lead to the failure they suffered.
titanium, spheres on the other hand dont need glue, and dont suffer the repeated contraction cycles.
