The one in my bedroom started going off from a dead battery the other day and I had to scramble to the store and buy more 9v before I turned black, it was a close call.

I'm starting to believe the theory that nigs unironically can't hear the frequency and pitch that smoke alarms are set at. Yes I know they are lazy and probably just don't want to change the battery, but I find it far more amusing that they simply don't even know the chirping is happening, because it would further confirm we aren't the same species. This would also explain why they like music with exaggerated bass, because they literally can't hear treble.
