Africans drink a lot. In animist Africa as soon as there is enough money that food isn't a problem (this doesn't happen often to most of the population but can happen to lucky or in charge) the balance is spent binge drinking cheap local alcohol and partying. Villages typically have a hall central where everything is arranged, the local heavies hang out, and people get drunk. Kind of a municipal pub. Not mentioned in typical guides because bad optics, also, stay away from these places if you are passing through.

I've lived in Korea and Japan for 6 years.
Every single night of the week, everywhere in both countries, there are hundreds of not thousands of Asian men, women, 20 year olds, 30s, 40s, 50, 60, piss drunk, every izakaya is packed from 6pm to 3am. I see salarymen passed out drunk on the sidewalk 2-3 times a night, at LEAST once a week.

When I was in Korea I walked to th train station at 8am on like a Thursday once to see 5 or so old Korean men sitting on the pavement surrounded by what could have been 100+ bottles of soju.

My dude. We think Brits, krauts, Irish, America s, etc drink? Fuck no. Asians live to drink, it's all they do, and theyre all lightweights to boot. I have never seen more alcoholism in my life than a Shibuya side street at 1am on a Wednesday.
