The Z with the ruzzian invasion in Ukraine has a different connotation to it.
Unless you're a VPN HIVan, you couldn't possibly know this, save outside of some old ambassadors that remember these odd quirks if they've seen it.

During Communism and some still do this nowadays out of habit, when a part of a paper or pages (official documents, charts...) were left blank or not filled in with information, a third-party person (teachers, institution clerks, supervisor etc. ...) would draw with a pen a "Z" (it wasn't really the letter, it looked like the letter) all over the blank page, or part of the blank space of a page that wasn't written on, or on blank space information boxes in documents, charts etc.

It wasn't the letter "Z" more than a prevention scribble (I don't know how you guys called it when you used pen and paper) from tampering with the blank page, blank space, and empty/unticked information boxes after initial inspection.


When I had to endure our communist-era high school torture exams at the end of high school, after I was done writing, one of the supervisor teacher would draw a "Z" on the empty pages or empty blank spaces that weren't written inside, as – supposedly – preventing any favoritism written down on my or other pupils behalf (like adding information to somehow help with the final grade, for instance).
At least that was the rationale, that this was verified after completion and that the "Zs" were signalling that *this* amount was written by the pupil.

With charts, it had a similar rationale, as in not to tamper with the written information from some third party individual(s) that might want to (somehow?) help the person or ruin their info table.
