As to Iran not pretending their air force to be much i'd say their fairly overt focus on ballistics and drones was a tacit admission of that already, though i've seen various military analysts (western, chinese, russian) corroborate the claim too so i didn't think it'd be a very controversial statement.

This is the best thing that’s happened to Iran since the revolution. It’s proven the government right that Israel is a real threat and not a boogeyman for propaganda purposes.
