I read some classics to see what the hype was all about and it's exactly like this anon says here>>507482248.

None of them are deep or even remotely thought-provoking. Let alone actually fun to read. You can literally find the exact same stories in anime and vidya, but way better written. Of course, those can't be allowed to be better than """"""real"""""" literature, so people aren't allowed to say that they are better, even though they are.

I'm honestly convinced you have to have a IQ between 100-115 to think books are good, because if you're smarter than that, you'll grow to detest reading.

As burgers like to say, reading is for faggots.

Yes, but I mostly enjoy french writers from the late 19th/early 20th century. I really dig Anatole France, the Tharaud brothers, etc. not sure if they're resonate with foreigners... or if they've even been translated at all.
>how is Michel Houellebecq?
Poorly written and decadent to me. I guess that's what people like about him. I suspect most of his "readers" buy the book only to put in to their bookshelf to look decadent.

I think the biggest mistakes novice readers make is that they think what they're getting out of a book depends on the author, when really it depends on themselves and their ability to read.
So the brown skinned polchud will pick up a 'classic', not get anything, and then conclude that reading itself is a waste of time.
