I've explained this before. Paddock worked for the CIA. FBI documents released about five years ago disclosed that he worked for the agency for 15 years. As to the motive, if you cross reference video and audio footage, you can hear multiple shooters, and the primary weapon used to carry out the majority of the massacre was a belt fed LMG. I believe it was an M249. There are videos you can compare the timbre (particular sound or pitch) of the weapons to one another, the rate of fire, and the report.

There have been a few suggested theories. I subscribe to the Saudi / CIA arms deal going south. It would explain why the shooting was covered up so heavily. The USG can't let it get out that one of their own went postal or turn coats because it would mean they'd be held accountable in some capacity for operating domestically. So in order to keep up appearances the case was swept under the rug.

I don't have the screen caps handy but an anon who was pretty emotionally invested in what occurred has posted in a few of these threads along side me with a plausible explanation.

Private copters were confirmed to be on the roof of either Mandalay Bay or another nearby hotel. Paddock (CIA op) goes to complete a Saudi weapons deal. Saudis betray Paddock or Paddock betrays Saudi's. Commit mass shooting to give others involved time to escape.

That's a very rough gist of what that anon suggested. I couldn't tell you much more.

I do however, have something interesting to add. I like to gamble a lot, and there's a forum I'm on in which a regular member of the site died, roughly around the same time Paddock did. He was a regular poster. He reportedly died "very suddenly" around the same time the shooting occurred.

I'm too lazy to log in and check those logs, or pull up the username, but considering Paddock was an avid gambler with good comps, it's quite possible that was his account. I'm curious to see who he interacted with on that site and if that account rally belonged to him. I know the site owner and could ask him to release logs and DM's, but he'll probably say no on principle. I honestly don't care enough to investigate it much. I'm a naturally curious person, but this type of thing can turn ugly once you start learning and knowing too much.
