Proximity fuze detonated the iron dome rocket but the incoming missile moved so fast so it had hauled ass out of effective fragmentation range before the shrapnel could hit it. You have to pre-detonate your interceptor missile when you intercept targets that move faster than an arrow from a tank cannon.

In other words: It detonated but the blast failed to detonate the Iranian missile.

Looks like a partial interception from this angle. Video cuts right before impact so it like still detonated. Neat thing is that since the interceptor knocked the missile off its intended trajectory it will hit civilians instead of its military target (located in a residential zone BTW)

People have died from those missiles landing on them after being disabled.
