>>507558802if your understanding of autism comes from hollywood movies where le autists are gifted and or always victims etc, in reality autism affects people in ways that are detrimental to those around them regardless of whether it's aggression internally or externally, but definitely not just internally
i actually side with the autist here too, as its just an autistic teen girl that is for some reason in public education which then leads to things like this happening more often and no one trained to deal with this being around
but this is what mental illness and autism are, you don't get to hand-pick 50% of the cases where it's internal / self-harming, when those same autists do so externally as well, it's just not as publicly displayed because it doesn't get pity / get the accurate message out, so you end up with situations like this where people with actual autism like this girl get "disowned" so that some quirky, self-diagnosed / misdiagnosed people can be perceived as the hollywood idea of autism
or they think autism only refers to aspergers, which spawned from anti-social personality disorder, which implies lack of empathy for other people, these are basically to be treated like psychopaths since they inevitably harm others, and NO, your idea of hollywood aspergers of some harmless genius guy couldn't be further from reality, the assburger types are antisocial types that lack empathy and are not cognitively impaired like the other autists, so this makes them extremely harmful and dangerous to be around
i have more pity for the non-aspergers, since they're not scheming and sociopathic, but rather simply impulsive and retarded. either way, poor girl since she should not be expected to behave like everyone else in a public school, just like you wouldn't tell a diabetic to control his blood sugar on his own
