If you aren't going to do the latter part, then there's no point in doing the former. Nobody has any balls anymore, and governments know that. They wait for the bulk of the protestors to get bored or need to go back to work, at which point they send in the goon squad to deal with only the most politically radical people, and everything goes back to normal.

You want a protest to mean something? It needs to be technically disruptive, it needs to be sustained, it needs to be disrupting the vital areas of society, and it needs to be well vetted to avoid glownigger entanglements.
