missile defense is a meme because you spend just as much or more on interceptors as you do munitions

i'd rather 10 offensive missiles than 10 defensive missiles with a pk of 90% (about as high as you can go); as 1 offensive will get through and opfor has spent just as much on missiles and eaten one themselves.

Never designed to do this. Itโ€™s not really a failure as it successfuly dealt with the threats it was designed to face. But thatโ€™s the limit.
You canโ€™t deal with massed ballistic missile strikes.

Also hereโ€™s to all the tards who imagined Russia is unable to pulverise Ukraine, see what Iran is doing to the most militarised โ€œWesternโ€ country defended by US military? Russians could easily make major urban centres in Cuckraine unliveable in a matter of days.

and that goal is failing because all they did was slightly delay the process, but its not like the people they killed were gatekeeping all the nuclear information for themselves. everything is documented, and they will be replaced by another guy.
without a deal, iran will have nuclear weapons sooner or later.

the real reason for this mess is because bibi doesnt want to go to prison, and needs war to stay in power.

Eradicating Iran's brain trust I suppose. In a couple days Israel has wiped out a large volume of equipment and talent. Is the regime "toppled"? That remains to be seen and is unlikely without killing the primary leader, but them ineffectively launching missiles at prescripted targets in Israel in no way implies they're operating at strength

Your calculation is fucked. Firstly it assumes all missiles are targeting the same target. Secondly it assumes a single missile destroys the target. Thirdly it assumes infinite missiles.
If Iran has 100 missiles and it takes 10 missiles at a single target for 1 to hit then they have the capacity to hit 10 targets whereas without the missile defense they could hit 100 targets.

I've paid attention to this conflict for decades, Israelis assassinate Iranian scientists all the time, and yet somehow the nuclear program keeps chugging along. It seems like the only actual barrier to developing nukes is the ayatollah's fatwas on nukes for being immoral. It's not a meme. It's everything. They'd be flattened if they had anything less than what they do. Their integrated air defense is dense beyond compare. Same with Ukraine. Not that they have the density of coverage, they don't, but what they do have has saved them. If they wouldn't have had all of the S-300, Buk, Osa systems, they would have lost in a few days. The soviet doctrine was designed to combat NATO air superiority, and Ukraine was still flush with these systems.

Conversely, it was exactly the LACK of iranian adequate SAM systems, and the lack of modern air craft, that led to israel getting air superiority so quickly.

>By what metric?

By the metric of enrichment percentages, they attained 60% as far back as 2022, by that point getting to the 90% needed for nukes would be trivial, as far as I understand. That means for the last three years they only haven't built nukes because they're not seeking to build them.

But if they get pushed enough the leaders at the top might be pressured by the military to change their minds.

>this time they got very close to getting the bomb

They've been close for three years as I said. Why did they never actually build them? Perhaps it's a moral decision as the fatwa states, or maybe it's political. They thought they could get a deal from Israel and avoid conflict with another nuclear agreement like the one Trump tore up.

The entire point is that it's almost impossible to build nukes in secret today. It was possible and it was done during the cold war and ww2 but there's no way to start the process in 2020s without anyone finding out or at least ratting on you

I think another important part in all of this, most gulf states are, under US leadership, working on normalizing relationships with israel. Iran is the odd one out, besides yemen. Assad recently fell, hezbollah got crippled, hamas not doing so hot either. Iran is somewhat backed into a corner now, isolated from its usual allies against israel/US. I dont know how close they actually got to the bomb, maybe israel is just making shit up to take out a rival (their last big one really). Or maybe iran is feeling the pressure and thats why they ramped up nuclear program. I dont know
or maybe this will all end in a few days again, who knows.

People who don't know anything about air defense call it that. All it does is intercept firework tier "missiles" (homemade rockets from palestine).
The aluminum foil dome is faltering from 3 days of bombardment and their supply of interceptor missiles will become non-existent if this pace is kept up for a few weeks. Even Ukrainian air defense is still somewhat functional after a 3 year war of attrition. Israels plan was for trump to drop everything and do an unrestricted bombing campaign on Iran (which NOBODY wants besides genocidal israelis who think the world revolves around them).

so far they've been compliant with letting in inspectors though, so you wouldn't expect anything getting secretly produced.

But who knows what they could accomplish if they're really pushed.

I think if Iran could it'd be in the same position as the gulf states, but Israel, and therefore the US doesn't trust it.

Powell wasn't a weapons inspector he was the secretary of defense. Actual inspectors never found a nuke program in Iraq because there wasn't one. The Bush administration just had to keep pretending there was one with no proof until everyone stopped caring since Saddam had been toppled.

I dont know... Their current regime is born out of people rebelling against a US sponsored autocrat.. iranians arent fond of the US. Theyd still probably prefer peace and prosperity though, youre right. So would most muslim states in the region im sure. but alas, israel and the US, like you said
