Frontier areas were deemed too difficult and dangerous to live in by the spics and Americans were invited in to settle those areas. The Spanish gained so much wealth from the Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans that they didn't have to work (why you get Siesta). The English had to make wealth through labor instead.
