Why are midwit redditors so obsessed with switching to metric?

Just do what the rest of the world does, honestly.
Switch to meters, kilograms, liters etc. It causes so much unecessary confusion when an american leaves the country or when someone goes to the US.

It's a European attack against America. Europe has like 16 thousand different measuring systems for every kind of thing you would want to do, and as a result, it's nearly impossible to measure anything without a computer omni-tool for transforming French pre-1977 Imperial Cups of fluid, to 1999 reformation Spanish Frenish, which is 1.24375 teaspoons, but only in the German system after Poland invaded Czechoslovakia.

you think I'm joking but this is 100% the case. Automotive, Cooking, measuring an amount of yarn, measuring fluids, measuring powder and weights of stone, are we talking British Imperial or Post French Renissance? Every food you buy, every autopart, every thing you buy at every store in Europe has a differnt measuring system and there are maybe sixteen thousand different systems that are even more arbitrary as the American Standard system.

The Europeans are mearly infecting their disease upon America, which has 2 systems, and not sixteen thousand systems.

Europeans are faggot hipocrites when they say their Metric is better than Standard, is not better, it worse, because if you say yes to metric, you are saying yes to sixteen thousand other systems and now you don't know how much a ton is. You don't know how much volume a gallon is, beause there's the British Imperial Gallon, there's the French Rennasance-Ton, there's the spanish hogshead of counting eggs, and then there is the Italian brumble of buying cows and steers.

Nobody can communicate weights and measures in Europe, if you want to, you have to first agree on a system, and this is hard without a computer omni-tool, which everyone has, and if you scan the boxtop on the box of cereal and automotive part, can load onto your smartphone so you can know how much "40" is. Is 40 just thirty five when when ayatollah says it's a friday? Or is the 40 a 52 when the wind blows from the east on a tuesday and Prague has said the British Imperials have prevailed on the counting system?

dont know about all the rest of what you said but this part is true. its just another way that the eurocommies use to divide their disarmed fag populations from anything associated with the US. Its done exactly the same way in Canada - whatever the US has or stands for is always cast as being bad, morally, practically, whatever, no matter what it is or how its done, the populations of the socialist nations must not think its good.

There's a serious problem with metric which is that 1 Meter is no longer based off any sensible measurement it is now the distance light travels in a vacuum in 1/299,792,458 of a second using a suss constant considering everything else is an approximation.
This means measurements are needlessly complex of course a slack jawed redditor wouldn't be needing to do precise measurements that are encoded in floating point but it's a legit problem for accuracy

Yes but tell me, what is the exact distance of a meter when you need to transfer that system to a binary encoding. A US imperial inch is pretty easy to define whereas a meter
>Well first you set up a perfect vacuum then measure the distance travelled there and back divided by a gigantic constant and do not have the storage to hold the exact number so must now use rounding schemes...
We actually use imperial then convert to meter or else insanity happens when scaling is needed like a trajectory being plotted

We should. Metric has logical progression in units of measurement. Now, if we just had to be different, then I suppose we could restructure imperial measurement instead; but that would lead to further confusion in the short-term. I don't know why anyone wants to die on the imperial hill. There is no good argument against converting, besides the costs of adjustments to education, road signs, etc. But those costs will come eventually when we eventually do switch; it's inevitable.

Everyone carries around their feet and finger inches. Everyone can roughly measure with these things that all humans possess, except amputees but shut up. No one carries around one ten millionth of the north pole to the equator. Humans can't instantly recognize what that is and there's no way to roughly measure that with body parts.

Miles are retarded but it's basically the distance the average person can run before they burn out. It's an old Roman unit for one thousand paces, but they used a double step as a pace. We use a larger step called yards, but not a double step. A foot is an overstep (so you don't trip). Our long distance measurements got fucked up by the British measuring land parcels with weird distances. The foot, yard, and inch are practical though. The metric system is not. We could perhaps switch to a system based on the average inch and the average foot multiplied by 10, 100, etc.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

When people have extremely comfortable lives and aren’t intelligent enough to handle actual big problems and quests, but are just intelligent enough to analyze things as they are, the find problems and causes that don’t matter or miss the point entirely to focus on. Instead of acknowledging the massive black urban crime problem which has ruined the walkable cities we do have, they get autistic about urban planning and scream at Republicans for impeding their projects. Rather than acknowledge that healthcare is so expensive because 30% to 40% of users are not paying and/or are the biggest users of healthcare operating expenses, they just insist on socialized medicine and some kind of government run healthcare scheme. The backbone of leftist politics is the large mass of midwits who are too afraid or too unintelligent to understand things as they really are and should be and instead they have their energy sublimated into this stupid bullshit that just sees the government being a giant jobs program for them and their disabled anxious friends. They’re literally the people Dostoevsky parodied in Notes from the Underground: loser who walk around with ideas about restructuring society in ways that see them overseeing some public funded initiative that they no run or advance in some way. You pay, they get to experiment on you, and if you don’t like that, you’re evil. This is THE backbone of leftism.

zero farehnheit was the coldest people could chill water to back in the day. they used an equal mix of water, ice and salt. basing the freezing point on salt water seems a pretty reasonable thing to do since the earth is covered in it and we are also not pure water beings. The Celsius scale began with 100c being when fresh water froze while 0 was when it boiled. all the scales have something less than reasonable about them, just depends on what your perspective is.
