not necessarily, this just shows their lack of training in drill. while they definitely should have practiced more its not really an indication anymore of an undisciplined or untrained army. while that was the case during blackpowder era when drill was actually used to fight. after that era drill became purely for training and ceremonial purposes. The reality of the evolution of war technology is that more and more soldiers are various types non-combatant technicians and support roles, while theres a smaller amount of actual infantry combat roles. really this just shows that at best, theyve largley replaced drilling with other PT or training ops, and have lowered drill as a priority for them.

they're supposed to be the strongest guys in the troop from what I understand. the guy who out performs gets to carry the flag. I never been in the military but I can see a huge difference at my age from seeing former parades. hell even the old WWII guys from like 30-40 years ago marched better when they were in the 50s and 60s.
We have a massive problem today and technology isn't going to replace that.

The fact of the matter is that marching is pure practice of MARCHING and that is something US soldiers don't do. Note that the ROTCs and cadets were great at marching, this is because they actually practice it while most troops haven't done it since boot camp.
