I remember when that pic wasn't the internet. It was the computer. You'd pit in the CDs you bought (you see, that pile besides the monitor?) and it would have software and stuff. You'd buy software because they'd sell you functioning pieces of software instead of shitty "eh, maybe it works, but we'll keep pushing updoots every day to track you and slow down your machine forever until it breaks, just keep buying new shit lol".

We improved the computer but why is the printer still such jewry? Someone solve the printer. It's a goddamn ripoff if you own one, the ink dries every couple months so you have to buy more and it's the most expensive liquid on Earth literally. Or you don't own one and have to pay the UPS store an absurd amount to have a few pages printed. We need an Amazon for printed mage delivery or machines at every grocery store that print what we send it.

The place-ness argument is good but you can't just extend it to smartphones. The problem isn't "internet access everywhere", it's social media and apps hijacking dopamine pathways and causing screen addiction. So kids get addicted to the screen and then find themselves unable to detach from the toxicity of social media, or boomers get addicted to outrage propaganda and get mindfucked by psyops.

I didn't get an NSAphone until 2022, and since then I primarily use it for reading ebooks and google maps and very occassionally, watching videos (or more commonly listening to them in the shower). Sadly I don't even listen to music on it very often I need to transfer some onto it.

Don't take that as a brag either, I have to be very conscious about how, when, and where I use my phone. It takes effort. Most people can't muster that effort and surrender to the mind control.

Get yourself a HP or Brother, color laser printer. Look for a used one for under $200. Once you buy it, take it home and print the usage reports. If it has printed under 2,000 pages it's basically brand new.

It was better too when the only way to connect was through dial up.

You connected to the internet for a few hours in which you were able to visit a virtual world. When you were done you disconnected and the session ended.

Now that barrier has dissolved and both worlds have merged.

Nah this is the Jew brand that fucked me. It never worked since day 1, required wifi to print because it sends everything to the feds, or a proprietary wire that it didn't come with and cost me $30 to buy from the company. The ink doesn't even last a month if you aren't using it, and if you use it it runs out quickly or has you do constant "cleaning cycles" where it wastes a bunch of ink.

Laser printing is low quality and costs a shit ton to do in color.

If you want a good printer, be prepared for it to take up a huge footprint of space and be prepared to buy toner in large quantities. Honestly you're better off just printing pages as needed at an office store.

That is the thing, you can't because once it went mainstream it became a requirement to live.
Government requires you pay most bills online.
Many private companies and most large corporations require you use the internet to find and apply for a job.
The worst companies now even require a smart phone for work or an app to spy on you and clock in with. That app records everywhere you are even on days off.

Society has basicly mandated you use the internet to exist.
If you want to see how bad it can get look at China. You basicly need a smart phone and to be in frequently hacked databases to spend money, open your apartment gate, be tracked at all times etc and having your identity stolen is just a normal part of the game you are required by law to play.
A wireless pocket computer the government and employers mandate is basicly an authoritarian leash.
And wearing your leash is not optional.

Ikea-shit mainly, but even just lumber/wood is expensive as fuck now. I wanted to build some bookshelves and even just the lumber was going to be so expensive if wasn't worth it. Best strat for furniture is to assume you're buying for life, and be very very careful about it and be prepared to spend a lot of money, and then make sure it's covered by insurance and documented.

Yes.
That and computers becoming too easy to use.
During Windows XP days, computers still had the built in retard filter that weeded out normies. They required constant problem solving and this kept a lot of people out.
There was a sweet spot when tech was good, but not too good to be intrusive. Nerds had their own space and normies were outside.
Brief 5-10 year time frame where things were in absolutely perfect balance and then it got fucked beyond belief.

This.
Phones are now mandatory in most places and internet is so mandatory, that access to it is in our constitution.
One day my phone got locked up as I fucked up the pin code too many times.
Instantly I was cut off from everything.
Couldn't log into the site where I could have unfucked my phone, as I needed the ID program for logging in that was on my phone. Couldn't call because I couldn't open my phone.
I had to go to one of the stores to have it fixed.
Phone is nowadays such a necessary lifeline, that you damn well plan and have a backup if your phone fails or gets lost.
I don't even call anyone, I just use the phone for the mandatory stuff that you need it for.

Anon the reason your printer won't print a black page when you don't have yellow ink is because of serial number micro tracking dots. All printers have it built in. All printers will detect and fail when you try to print money.

>That is the thing, you can't because once it went mainstream it became a requirement to live.
Nah you can avoid lots of it
>Government requires you pay most bills online.
Not true at all, you can pay most government fines in person in places or by mailing a check. Easy.
>Many private companies and most large corporations require you use the internet to find and apply for a job.
This is true but you don't need a smartphone. You can absolutely use a public computer at the library and store your documents in either the cloud or on a cheap encrypted USB, or use your home computer.
>The worst companies now even require a smart phone for work or an app to spy on you and clock in with. That app records everywhere you are even on days off.
Absolute bullshit but not so common that it can't be avoided. Additionally, in many cases you can insist you don't own a smartphone and insist they either wave the requirement or provide you with a work phone. Don't work for those companies.

>Society has basicly mandated you use the internet to exist.
We live in a society.
>If you want to see how bad it can get look at China. You basicly need a smart phone and to be in frequently hacked databases to spend money, open your apartment gate, be tracked at all times etc and having your identity stolen is just a normal part of the game you are required by law to play.
China is not normal, you don't live in Chinese society.
>A wireless pocket computer the government and employers mandate is basicly an authoritarian leash.
>And wearing your leash is not optional.
There are basically no mandates in the USA even in 2025. I lived well up to 2022 with no smartphone, and these days I'll just lie to peoples' face when they ask for my phone number and tell them I don't have a phone. Nothing ever happens.

The truth is that nobody's forcing YOU to have a smartphone. You're just addicted to it, and projecting that addiction to any external body so you don't have to acknowledge it.

>HP color laser printer
Lowest cost is mid $300 range. Do you not see how this isn't viable for someone who just needs to print something once or twice a year? I shouldn't have to send a document to the brown retard behind the counter of the office store who doesn't know how to open a .pdf

We had Kinkos but that's long gone. The services we have now are ass and someone industrious could make millions on a solution. Any printer you recommend we buy is just going to purposely break in a couple years anyway, we all know how it goes. They're the most Jewed device in anyone's home except modern screen electronics. Everything is getting so fucking bad.

Its really subjective

Smart people realize it's a powerful tool to advance discovery and knowledge

Midwits use it to consume as it's dawned a new era of consumption

Retards are confused and threatened by it, like basically everything else they encounter on their way to the bottom

Getting mad at the internet because of how pervasive it is, is like getting mad at literacy because most people read magazines and comic books

Personally I was born in the 80s, and having access to every song ever for the cost of one cd is pretty based

But I'm cleary a midwit so what do I know

The 2007 births, marking the first members of the Smart Phone Generation, turn 18 this year. That means they can vote. I remember imagining what a change that would be back in the late 20teens. But after seeing AI come on strong, I'm thinking the Smart Phoners are going to be a relatively sane generation compared to the AI's. It's one thing to have the world at your fingertips that you have to manually search on. It's something entirely different to have the AI do your homework and everything else for you. With pre AI smartphones, you still had to think for your self a little bit. You were no longer asking your elders for information but you still had to give it tons of prompts and do some calculating for yourself. With the new AI, thinking becomes obsolete because now the AI thinks for you, much faster and more accurately than you can think for yourself. The new divide is the pre AI generations vs post AI.

Internet would be good only if it was for worthy people and you were part of that club. Back in the day, we thought to deserve that power because the ones with the courage of curiosity to use internet were few. But I remember clearly that the pioneers just put the very seeds of corruption. They created the internet culture of degeneracy that was inherited by the normies. The first users of internet, just like it was a Bohemian Grove, used the web to build a digital persona founded on their vices and kinks, because it was a "secret club". When the normies arrived en masse, they started to follow on that but as their own public identity.

>mfw those fags at blizzard announced classic wow years ago knowing that the homogenous community would be gone from the Vanilla days
Those new kids, those nostalgia goggled oldfags, they went into that shit with the very highest of hopes not knowing that it truly was both a product of it's time but more importantly a product of the limited scope the internet had reached back then.

"No hablo ingles" was such a fucking absolutely rare occurrence, so rare that it was treated as some manner of mystical event, a "Wow, really? That's fucking neato, never met someone who couldn't speak English." type of deal that happened maybe once or perhaps twice over all of Vanilla WoW's run, hell probably parts of TBC and Wrath too.
But for the Classic people? That was the norm, all of the homogenous community destroyed, language barriers all over the place, hell even the fact that many younger "americans" can't even write from their lack of literacy contributed too.

Classic and Vanilla were fundamentally different experiences and it was "nice" comparing the mostly homogenous vs diversity is our strength versions. Those chinks had the right fucking idea of walling their internet off from outsiders, I'm sure their multiplayer games aren't a constant state of *fire alarm beeps*, foreigner babble, and other bullshit.
