Proto, Mac and Stanley tools are all fucking dead since Stanley black pecker bought craftsman they have been forced to consolidate.

Also Bacho is a subrand of Snap-on so if you want older tech of snap-on you should go with Williams which atleast has there made in america ratchets that are about the same as snap-on.

ICON is not that different from most Taiwanese made tools but I would recommend going with Tekton for the variety and price being slightly better. More fleshed out tool options with Tekton.

I just buy cheap standard tools like drills since I use it just a few times a year when doing DIY projects like you said. Anytime I need something more niche like a concrete saw I just rent it for the day. Only ever needed one once before and it was $30 for a 24 hour rental. They will give you a qrd on how it functions and as long as you don't be a retard and break it then it is cheaper than buying a tool to use once.

wurth isn't even a tool brand it buys other brands and sells at mark up to corporations.

the fact that knipex isn't in good tool list just shows how trash this list is.

also let not go into fact that snap-on own bahco and that fucking proto, mac and dewalt are stanley.

i dont know about getting the absolute cheapest anon, but whatever your local store has which is reasonably priced will probably last you a long time for basic stuff around the house and on the car. spend a bit more on anything that has a ratchet in it because cheapo ones will break even on fairly light duty use.

but dont fucking buy shitty quality battery powered drills. its not worrth it. mains powered stuff tends to be ok at the lower end though.

Try Hikoki, it's what Hitachi became, I think it trades as Metabo in the US. Metabo also has a German line which sells here that's alright, but only alright.

There talking hand-tools in this regard. Its why german tools are rated higher since most of the DIY people are likely electricians. If you want slutty hand tools then anything under the umbrellas of Stanley black and decker is fine. Anything under Snap-on umbrella of brands is great. Any random Taiwaness tool brand is decent like harbor freight, Tekton, Sunnex.

All depends upon your need and price point. You really only need snap-on for precession torque specs and heavy breakage tools. Going all in on snap-on is a mistake for even seasoned mechanics.

Knipex is a major contributor to the general trend of over engineering simple tools to jack up the price. Every time they make a retarded tool it jacks up the price of all there other tools and encourages other competitors to do the same shit. I can not stand when simple tools get over engineered so to me knipex is low iq shit.

Yeah, also the tool varies where it's produced abd the quality too. Your Metabo/Hikoki could very easily be different to my country's Hikoki. You should check out Makita Red, it's the domestic line for Makita in Japan. Actually a huge difference in performance compared to the stuff they export.
