Exchanging anything of value counts as sex trafficking under the legal definition. Doesn't matter if it's a good or service. Let's say you tell a person you want to hook up with "fly in and I'll take you out to eat wherever you want" that counts as trafficking because the offer of a meal is an exchange of goods for sex. You add in crossing state lines and it is 100% federal, even though they can build a federal case for using the internet because your isp is located all across the country, or using your phone because all the parts come from other countries. It sounds fake, exaggerated as fuck but I assure it's sadly real.
