Why do we still draw countries like this as one thing on maps when it's completely balkanized?

Because you don't want to recognize their new constituents, but Kosovo is okay somehow

Illusion of stability for economical purposes. If it became well know that modern nation states have failed, and most of them aren't stable as the map seems to show, locals would focus on self sufficiency instead of depending on the global supply chain.
