This guy ran a country of 90 million for 35 years and through some very dangerous crises.
The entire basis for why we should fight this war is that he and his government are utterly insane and they are willing to let Persian civilization be glassed (from mutually assured destruction) if it means hurting Israel and the US with nukes.

How likely do you think he is to actually do that?
Is it worth fighting another possible forever-war over that likelihood?

If all that played out, Iran would be seen as a hero. 500 years from now, when they are truly calling the Holocaust fake and gay everywhere? Hero. And USA would look like a villain.

It's geopolitical power games, realpolitik at it's rawest. The eventual aim is to isolate China.

I think he and his possible successors are all incredibly unlikely to do it and just wants nukes as a deterrence. They actually have shown a lot of restraint in their responses to Israel's first 2 attacks on them. Going to war over this would be super retarded.

Mutually Assured Destruction deterrence has never failed and prevents conventional wars too

Consider this. In 2020, after one of Iran's top spooks was assassinated in Iraq by the US, Iran decided to retaliate by bombing a US base. They had to do it because of domestic optics, but they made sure to do give advance warning so that no one was killed and the US would be able to brush it off. Clearly, Iran is not keen on getting itself embroiled in a shootout with the US, which imo demonstrates that its leadership is quite rational.

Here is the sequence of events:
Israel convinced Russia to give Iran some low-yield briefcase nukes last week. In exchange, Russia gets US recognition of the new territorial map of Russia/Ukraine and full cessation of support.
Iran will detonate one of those nukes in Israel as a show of strength intending to blackmail Israel to cease hostilities.
The Israelis know this, and have communicated the nuke threat to Trump as though it's intelligence-sourced rather than something they orchestrated. Worst case it's a burnt offering and cassus belli for US involvement, but best case is this:
Trump left G7 and scrambled US strategic bombers and plans to glass Tehran if a nuke is detonated in Israel. We're bombing to avoid triggering MAD responses from Russia/China if we used ICBMs or sub-based launch.
Israel has calculated in the damage. They have even been preparing for this moment by memeing the "TACO" irritant to specifically target the President's frame of mind when it's time for him to issue the bombing order.
Trump's pride will cause him to push the button.

This is the first time large numbers of innocent Iranian civilians have been killed form unprovoked bombings.

Why wouldn't middle eastern nations pursue nukes when Israel has demonstrated time and time again that they simply don't respect their right to exist and have made it a habit to violate their territory and bomb them?
