They want regime change. Bombs won’t cause regime change, instead they will galvanize Iranians behind the leadership. They can try coups and assassinations and setting up a puppet but that is not likely to work. Even if they succeed in killing the Ayatollah the regime will likely persist. The only way to be sure is send in the Marines. God knows the IDF can’t do it. They can’t even defeat Hamas next door.

Zero chance whatsoever, the only realistic way to approach it would be an amphibious invasion which we have no capacity to actually pull off and wouldn't without 5 years of massive buildup. Just imagine how the Navy would perform in an operation on the scale of the Normandy landings with the level of capability that was on display during the fight against the Houthis.

Israel has a population of less ghan 10 million and Iran has a little of 90 million. Israel can barely handle hamas in Israel's own backyard of gaza. Israel can not sustain a ground invasion of Iran that far away. Israel has to trick and trap the US and as much of Europe as possible to fight a ground invasion of Iran
