They sell hardwood furniture and other crafts. People pay a premium for it rather than importing Ikea particle board shit made in China. And their communities usually have a healthcare fund that functions the same as insurance, they all pay into it and it pays for treatment when someone get sick/injured.

Also not using modern technology is a meme, they grow tons of crops and use a lot of modern farming equipment to do so, so they make decent money doing that, the same as any other farming communities.
